Wagga mum swaps geography teaching career for a toolbelt and apprenticeship โก๐ง
After 20 years teaching geography in local schools, Wagga mum of five Nat Adams has taken on a new challenge, swapping lesson plans for a first-year electrical apprenticeship with Essential Energy. Inspired by an opportunity to try something different, Nat is now working on electrical infrastructure while building her skills through her apprenticeship studies at TAFE NSW Wagga Wagga.
Nat says her TAFE NSW experience has been a great one, giving her the chance to learn alongside apprentices from across the industry. Her story is a powerful reminder that it's never too late to pursue a new career path and develop skills in an in-demand trade. TAFE NSW teacher Matt Close says more mature-age students are choosing electrotechnology for the variety, job security and opportunities the industry provides.
Congratulations, Nat, on your inspiring career change and commitment to lifelong learning! ๐

Anna is a bright spark - from ski lifts to a career in the trades ๐โ๏ธ
Anna discovered her passion for all things electrical while working as a lift operator at Perisher. After starting as a trade assistant, she took the leap into an electrical apprenticeship in her mid-20s and is now a fourth-year apprentice helping maintain the iconic ski resort.
โI love that every day is different as an electrician and you never get bored. One day I might be servicing the ski lifts and another day I might be doing work on the staff accommodation or the retail outlets. And electrical is such a diverse field, there are so many avenues I can take after I finish my apprenticeship.โ
Anna hones her hands-on skills and knowledge at TAFE NSW - Wagga Wagga: โWhat I love about TAFE NSW is that the teachers are tradies first so theyโve done it all before. Theyโre so invested in your success and really take the time to work one-on-one with you if you need a hand with something.โ
Gain skills that work for electrotechnology via the link in the comments. โญ
