🎶📚 Book Week 2026: A Symphony of Stories 📚🎶

On Monday 17 August our St Rita’s community came together to celebrate Book Week 2026 with our wonderful Book Week Parade embracing this year’s theme “A Symphony of Stories”.

Students and staff dazzled us with their creativity, arriving dressed as a fantastic array of book characters. From classic favourites to modern-day heroes the parade was a vibrant celebration of the stories that inspire, entertain and ignite our imaginations.

The excitement and enthusiasm on display highlighted the joy of reading and the power of books to bring people together. It was wonderful to see our students proudly sharing their favourite characters and stories while celebrating a love of literature.

A huge thank you to our families for helping bring these amazing costumes to life and to our staff for making the day so special. We loved seeing our school community come together for such a joyful celebration of reading and storytelling.

💙👔 Celebrating the Special Men in Our Lives 👔💙

Last Thursday we were delighted to welcome fathers, grandfathers and special men from our St Rita’s community as we came together to celebrate Father’s Day.

The afternoon began with an afternoon tea giving our families the chance to connect and enjoy time together.

Our Year 1 students then delighted everyone with a special performance as well as leading a beautiful Father’s Day Liturgy.

With prayers, songs and heartfelt reflections, the students expressed their gratitude for the love, support and guidance provided by the special men in their lives. Their confidence, enthusiasm and joy made the celebration truly memorable.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special occasion. We hope all our fathers, grandfathers and special men felt loved, appreciated and celebrated by their St Rita’s family and had a wonderful Father’s Day 💙✨

🌊☀️🏕️ Year 6 Camp Adventure Update! 🏕️☀️🌊

What an incredible first two days our Year 6 students have had at camp!

From the moment they arrived they have been diving into every challenge, adventure and opportunity that has come their way.

Students have put their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test during exciting team challenges, enjoyed plenty of fun and laughter during beach games and taken to the water with confidence during canoeing sessions.

They also conquered the thrilling high ropes course showing remarkable courage as they climbed, balanced and pushed beyond their comfort zones high above the ground!

The enthusiasm, resilience and encouragement shown by our students has been outstanding. It has been fantastic to see friendships strengthened, confidence grow and memories being made that will last a lifetime.

We are so proud of the way our Year 6 students are representing St Rita’s and embracing every moment of this amazing experience.

The MET East Regional semi-final was played on Friday afternoon with St Rita's taking on Rochdale State School in a thrilling end-to-end contest.

Rochdale made a fast start, opening the scoring early in the match. St Rita's responded immediately, with Emmanuel curling a direct corner into the back of the net to level the scores in spectacular fashion.

Both sides continued to create chances in an entertaining first half, but it was Rochdale who struck just before the halftime whistle to take a narrow 2–1 lead into the break.

St Rita's came out firing in the second half and continued to take the game to Rochdale. The boys were rewarded for their attacking intent when Ethan found the back of the net to bring St Rita's within one goal and keep the contest alive.

Despite St Rita's relentless pressure, Rochdale capitalised on their chances and added two second-half goals to secure a hard-fought 4–2 victory. Between the posts, Blake was simply outstanding producing a string of remarkable saves throughout the match to keep St Rita's in the contest and giving his teammates every chance until the final whistle.

Although the result brought our MET East Regional Playoff campaign to an end, the boys can be incredibly proud of their efforts throughout the competition.

They displayed outstanding resilience, teamwork and determination against quality opposition and represented St Rita's with great pride.

Congratulations to Rochdale State School, and we wish them all the best for the remainder of the competition.
