What does critical thinking look like in practice? It looks a lot like this.
These photos capture the energy, engagement, and enthusiasm of the team at Quay Perth during our Critical Thinking workshop.
Brilliantly facilitated by Craig Watson, the session challenged participants to question assumptions, think more strategically, and develop practical approaches to problem-solving and decision-making.
The feedback from participants was outstanding, with many highlighting the relevance of the content and the immediate application of the skills in their roles.
Critical thinking is one of the most valuable capabilities organisations can develop. It strengthens decision-making, encourages innovation, improves communication, and helps teams navigate complexity with confidence.
A big thank you to the Perth team for embracing the learning experience and contributing so openly to the discussions.

A great leadership journey starts with self-awareness.
We're excited to see participants from Action Drill & Blast in Mackay, Queensland commence Block 1 – Understanding Self as part of the BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management.
Brilliantly facilitated by Deb Hann, the workshop focused on building the foundations of effective leadership through three key units:
• BSBPEF502 Develop and Use Emotional Intelligence
• BSBLDR411 Demonstrate Leadership in the Workplace
• BSBXTW401 Lead and Facilitate a Team
The sessions encouraged participants to reflect on their leadership style, understand the impact of emotional intelligence in the workplace, and explore practical approaches to leading and supporting high-performing teams.
The engagement, discussions, and willingness to share experiences created a positive learning environment and set a strong foundation for the program ahead.
Congratulations to everyone who has taken the first step in their leadership development journey. We look forward to supporting you as you continue to build the skills, confidence, and capabilities needed to lead effectively in today's workplace.
Thank you to Action Drill & Blast for your commitment to developing current and future leaders.

Psychological safety is the foundation of high-performing teams.
When people feel safe to contribute, ask questions, share ideas, and challenge thinking, organisations create stronger collaboration, better decision-making, and more innovative workplaces.
At Future Institute of Australia, we work with organisations to build leadership capability and workplace cultures that support learning, trust, accountability, and performance.
The 4 Stages of Psychological Safety, developed by Timothy R. Clark, provide a practical framework for creating environments where people feel safe to:
• Belong
• Learn
• Contribute
• Challenge
Building psychologically safe workplaces isn’t just good for culture - it drives engagement, retention, innovation, and leadership effectiveness.

Strong leaders don’t just focus on what’s happening inside their organisation - they understand the external factors shaping the future.
PESTLE Analysis is a powerful critical thinking tool that helps leaders and teams evaluate the macro-environment by exploring:
🔹 Political
🔹 Economic
🔹 Social
🔹 Technological
🔹 Legal
🔹 Environmental factors
By thinking strategically about these influences, organisations can make smarter decisions, manage risk more effectively, and identify future opportunities.
At Future Institute of Australia, we incorporate practical frameworks like PESTLE into our leadership and professional development programs to help individuals build stronger analytical thinking and decision-making capability.
Better insights. Better decisions. Better outcomes.

Strong leadership starts with strong thinking. 🎩
Edward De Bono’s Six Thinking Hats framework is a powerful tool that helps teams approach challenges, conversations, and decisions from multiple perspectives.
By exploring facts, emotions, creativity, risks, opportunities, and process thinking separately, teams can communicate more effectively, reduce unproductive conflict, and make more balanced decisions.
At Future Institute of Australia, we believe frameworks like this are valuable because they create the conditions for better collaboration, deeper critical thinking, and stronger leadership capability across teams and organisations.
Sometimes the best outcomes come not from thinking harder - but from thinking differently.

Understanding communication styles is a game changer for team performance.
When we take the time to understand how we prefer to communicate - and how others do - it becomes easier to connect, collaborate, and avoid unnecessary friction.
It starts with three simple steps:
• Understand your own communication style
• Learn to recognise how others communicate
• Adapt your approach to work effectively with different styles
Strong teams aren’t made up of people who communicate the same way - they’re made up of people who understand and adapt to each other.
Because better communication leads to better teamwork.
