📚✨ BOOK WEEK – WEDNESDAY 9 SEPTEMBER ✨📚

It’s time to bring our favourite books to life!

Valkyrie State School will be celebrating Book Week on Wednesday 9 September, and we can’t wait to see everyone dressed up as their favourite book character! 🧙‍♀️🦸‍♂️👸🐛

Students are encouraged to come dressed as a character from a book they love and join in the Book Week fun.

It doesn’t need to be fancy homemade, simple and creative costumes are always fantastic!

Upper Primary Earth Science in Action!
Our upper primary students put their Earth Science knowledge to the test by exploring the school grounds in search of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks.
Once their specimens were collected, students carefully examined each rock's features and justified their classification using the evidence they observed. This hands-on investigation encouraged critical thinking, scientific observation, and the application of classroom learning in a real-world context.
Well done to our budding geologists!

Valkyrie was delighted to welcome Earl Neilson to our school, accompanied by Emma, Community Development Officer from Isaac Regional Council.

Earl had our students thoroughly engaged with his storytelling, poetry, and the powerful messages shared through his book, Barrarina. His passion for words and storytelling captured the attention of students and staff alike, making for an inspiring and enjoyable session.

Earl also took the opportunity to promote the upcoming Bush Poet’s Smoko, to be held in Nebo on the 12th & 13th September, encouraging students and families to celebrate Australia's rich bush poetry tradition.

A heartfelt thank you to Earl for sharing his time, talent and stories with us, and to Emma and the Isaac Regional Council for supporting this wonderful opportunity for our students!

On behalf of Valkyrie State School, I would like to sincerely thank Pembroke Resources-Olive Downs Complex, for the delivery of two loads of water via water truck to our school this week.

Your generosity and support play an essential role in keeping our school operating effectively. As our school relies on tank water, the delivery of this water not only helps maintain our grounds beautifully but also ensures the continued operation of our toilet facilities and daily school functions. Without Pembroke’s assistance, we would be facing extremely difficult circumstances.

We would particularly like to thank Nathan, Adam and Sofia, for their swift, professional, and efficient delivery service to our school. Their support and willingness to assist are greatly appreciated.

We also want the wider community to be aware of Pembroke Resources’ graciousness and unwavering support of our school. Your contribution makes a meaningful difference to our students, staff, and school community.

Thank you again to Valkyrie P&C for organising our school working bee and donating your time yesterday. We accomplished much and it was great to spend time together with you all. Lunch was also amazing as always!

Let’s speak up and put an end to bullying. Speak to your kids - no matter what age.

Let’s come together as a school community to support this important cause and take a stand against bullying. By wearing blue, we’re sending a strong message of zero tolerance and showing support for those affected.

On Friday the 8th of May, Valkyrie students will wear blue to signify zero tolerance for bullying. Bullying can have lifelong effects, so it’s important we please come together as a school to proudly support this initiative.
