Today we have recognised National Aborignal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day as the children had the opportunity to take part in a creative art experience using art work by Tovani Cox titled "Learning from Country" and through discussions about what this day means for indigenous Australians.

This day is to honour and celebrate the strength, culture, and potential of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

As Term 2 comes to an end, we are amazed at everything that has occurred throughout the term. Some highlights include:
- Welcoming Tanya from Steps to conduct vision screening for children who will commence school in 2027
- To celebrate Reconciliation Week, Aunty Kathy visited preschool to share songs, a story and create art with the children.
- A small group of children visited the Alternate Root Cafe for an excursion.
- We visited McMaughs Aged care to sing songs and share a story with the residents. The most heart-warming part was when each child gave each resident a drawing they had made.
- We conducted our first School's Expo where over a couple of weeks each school within our community came to visit preschool during the afternoon to connect and share information with families whose children will commence school in 2027.
- We were presented with a grant from ACEN Solar Community Grants Program that contributed to the construction of our new outdoor shade structure.
And finally.... our most proudest achievement for this term was being awarded an overall service rating of EXCEEDING following our Assessment and Rating visit in May. Our dedicated team of educators have worked incredibly hard to achieve this rating and we are so happy to share this accomplishment with the wider community. Thank you also for the continued support from our families and the community.

We wish all of our children, and their families a restful winter break.

We look forward to welcoming you back to preschool when is resumes from Monday 20th July.

It was lovely to welcome back Stage 3 students from Rocky River Public School this morning.
Community connections is a fundamental part of the National Quality Standard 6 and Early Years Learning Framework. Providing children with many learning opportunities.

💕📚 A beautiful morning today out in Uralla community, reconnecting with our buddies at Uralla Preschool. Stage 3 were prepared with a great picture book and big smiles!! Lovely connections were made and strengthened with our preschool friends as Stage 3 students read aloud, coloured in, built with blocks and played together with our youngest friends. The maturity and leadership shining through our students makes us very proud! It was hard to leave this morning but all are looking forward to our return in a fortnight.

Today at 12pm the children took part in National Simultaneous time. We read the story Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller by Adrian Jackson, Adrian Lloyd and Jake A Minton.

A lovely story about a Luna Roo, a footballer who never gives up despite many other animals being unkind during a football game. In end, Luna Roo wins the football game for the team.

Reading stories to children is foundational in the development of early literacy skills.
