In September 2020 I took Te Klein Gemma to be inseminated with Orkan Skovå semen from Denmark. I already had a prime exemplar of that combination on the ground and hoped with all my heart I could replicate it and this time get a filly. 27.08.2021 Greenfield's NF Ronja took her first breath and I was absolutely elated. I was certain I'd bred myself a beautiful addition to my stud.
As Ronja grew up it became more and more evident that she had a particularly hard to manage case of Queensland itch. Every summer she would be itchy and last summer she was making it clear that she didn't have a long term option of staying with me for her own quality of life. I quietly started considering finding her a home away from itch that would value her genetics and personality, and make considered choices for pairing her with suitable stallions to bring forward her bloodline.
In autumn Emma Goodwin reached out to me asking if I knew of any mares suitable to her criteria for conformation, pedigree and temperament that maybe could come available. My heart did a little stumble and I offered her the option of Ronja. After a visit in July to meet her and get a feel for her it was set in stone. Ronja will escape any further itch seasons and Emma gets the mare I had hoped to retain for myself.
Fast forward to today, the day that every breeder has to deal with and figure out how to cope with every time it comes around. Lachlan Manuel Equine Transport was tasked with the job of picking up my sweet, beautiful Ronja and bring her to Emma. Ronja loaded well and disappeared in amongst the TB's on the truck. She'll be in transit for the next 48 hours and I for one can't wait to be told she is safely in the excellent care of Emma on Friday afternoon.
Congratulations Emma on the acquisition of this sweet and funny mare. May she give you years of joy, fabulous offspring and fun experiences. Love her every day as I have so far and I'll be a happy breeder.
Safe travels Greenfield's NF Ronja
