🏉 FROM CMC TO THE WORLD STAGE 🌟 We were thrilled to recently welcome back former Clairvaux MacKillop College student Kaitlin Shave, who generously took time out of her busy schedule to visit and inspire our students and college community. Since graduating from CMC, Kaitlin has gone on to achieve incredible success, representing Australia at the 2024 Paris Olympics with the Australian Women's Rugby Sevens team. Most recently Kaitlin helped secure a World Championship victory where she sprinted 55 metres to score the match-levelling try in Australia's semifinal against New Zealand, with the Australia Women’s team progressing to the final and crowned the 2026 Women’s Rugby Sevens World Champions!
With her sights set on the 2028 Olympics, Kaitlin's story is a powerful reminder that success is rarely a straight path. Through determination, resilience and a commitment to keep showing up, she demonstrates the importance of learning from adversity, believing in yourself and never giving up on your goals.
Thank you, Kaitlin, for returning to CMC and inspiring the next generation to keep striving, keep growing and keep bouncing back when challenges arise!

💛 VINNIES SPRING CAN DRIVE – THANK YOU, CMC! 💛Thanks to the generosity of our College community, we collected more than 850 cans and non-perishable food items through our 2026 Vinnies Spring Can Drive. Every donation reflects the compassion, kindness and service-minded spirit that are such an important part of life at CMC.
Today, our Vinnies student representatives, Maria, Nina and Louisa, presented the donations to Mr Jim McDonald and Mr Frank Kelly from St Bernard's Parish St Vincent de Paul Society. They shared their sincere appreciation for the ongoing support shown by the CMC community and the difference it continues to make for local families.
These donations will be used to create food hampers for local families, providing much-needed nourishment and relief during challenging times.
Thank you to everyone who contributed, with the generosity of the CMC community once again shining through!

💛 OUT OF THE SHADOWS WALK CMC INTERACT WALK 🥾🌿
On Sunday 13 September, CMC Interact student members and staff completed the Lifeline Out of the Shadows Walk through Toohey Forest. The 9-kilometre distance symbolises the nine Australians who lose their battle to mental health each day.
Throughout September, our Interact Club continues to raise funds for Lifeline and the vital support they provide to people and families across Australia. This is the heart of CMC in action, students transforming awareness into meaningful action and making a positive difference in their community!

💛 A STORY OF UNDERSTANDING, INCLUSION AND HEART 💛
On a recent professional learning day, our School Officers Learning Enhancement staff had the privilege of welcoming author Melissa Barker, who shared the inspiring story behind her self-published book 'My Not So Fragile World'.
Through the eyes of her son Oliver, Melissa offered a deeply personal insight into life with Fragile X Syndrome, speaking with honesty about the challenges, celebrating the milestones, and sharing the realities of the support network that helps Oliver navigate a busy learning world each day.
As she brought Oliver's story to life through a reading of her beautifully illustrated book, Melissa also highlighted the vital role school officers play in creating genuinely inclusive learning environments. Her words affirmed the care, patience and dedication shown by our staff every day, ensuring every student feels seen, supported and valued.
It was also wonderful for Melissa to reconnect with our Early Career Teachers, having previously shared her story and insights during their Professional Learning Retreat earlier this year.
Melissa's visit was made even more special by her longstanding connection to the CMC community. Her mother and aunty were students at MacKillop College and her uncle attended Clairvaux College while her grandparents were also very active parishioners at St Bernard’s Parish.
It was a truly meaningful and enriching session, deepening our understanding of authentic inclusion and reminding us of the power of empathy, connection and seeing the world through another person's eyes.

YEAR 10 FOOD SPECIALISATIONS SHOWCASE 🍽️ Recently, staff attended the Year 10 Food Specialisation Events, where students showcased the culinary skills they have developed throughout the year. The events featured a delicious selection of hors d'oeuvres, desserts and mocktails, providing an opportunity to experience the creativity, talent and expertise of our students. Congratulations to all involved on a fantastic showcase! ✨

🌟 A NIGHT TO CELEBRATE 40 YEARS OF CMC 🌟Recently, our CMC community came together for a special 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner, celebrating the people, stories and milestones that have shaped Clairvaux MacKillop College across four decades.
The evening was filled with laughter, reflection and connection, highlighted by a wonderful panel discussion featuring Luke Bateman, Jim Chalmers MP and former Principal Laura Keating, who shared memories and insights from their unique journeys with the College.
A heartfelt thank you to our panellists, and to former staff member Jason Carroll, whose warm and engaging leadership as Panel Chair helped bring so many treasured and humorous CMC stories to life!

💛 R U OK? DAY AT CMC 💛 Recently, our College community took time to recognise R U OK? Day, highlighting the importance of connection, compassion and checking in on those around us.

Through conversations and activities across the College, students and staff were encouraged to Ask R U OK?, Listen, Encourage Action and Check In. These simple but powerful steps help foster a community where people feel supported, valued and comfortable reaching out when they need help.

SUPPORT OUR CMC VINNIES CAN DRIVE – ITEMS REQUIRED FOR MONDAY 14 OCTOBER 2026 | Clairvaux MacKillop College is collecting canned and non-perishable food items in support of the CMC St Vincent de Paul Can Drive, helping local families experiencing hardship.

We encourage families to support their child in contributing to this important cause by donating a canned or non-perishable item for them to bring to their Homeroom. All donations will contribute to food hampers distributed by St Vincent de Paul to individuals and families in need within our local community. To ensure items can be safely used, we ask that donated products have a minimum six-month best-before date.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will help provide essential support to those doing it tough and reflect the care and generosity of the CMC community. Thank you for supporting this worthwhile initiative. Together, we can help make a meaningful difference. 💙
