At Upper Coopers Creek Public School, learning comes to life through exploration, discovery, and hands-on fun. We know that every child is an individual, with their own unique talents and personalities and we tailor learning to be personal, engaging, and memorable.

At UCC we do love to follow unexpected and student-led paths in our learning! Last week some of the children were excited to discover the magic of using a magnifying glass to concentrate sunlight to burn a hole in a leaf, so we set them the challenge of creating an actual fire in the yarning circle fire pit. We were very impressed when after a LOT of perseverance, they succeeded.
But then what do you do with a fire except to make damper on a stick?! A spontaneous cooking lesson followed, and we all enjoyed a damper and honey afternoon tea.

Today our students received their Junior Landcare Planting licence. Thanks to a Junior Landcare Grant, we have been working with Brunswick Valley Landcare Inc and Upper Coopers Creek Landcare groups to revive our native landscape at our local creek. Special mention to Ray and Deb for organising and including us in this project. A big thank you to Simon, for prepping the site and digging all the holes! Thank you Sue from Brunswick Valley Landcare and Sandra from Upper Coopers Creek Landcare for sharing your knowledge. Our students have all said this has been a super fun day! We look forward to working together in the future.
