What a fabulous Canberra excursion!

Our final pit stop: Berrima! After two action-packed days of learning, exploring and laughing together, it was time for one last break before heading home.

The places we visited were incredible, but it’s the memories made with friends that will last a lifetime.

What an unforgettable experience for our Year 5 students!

Final stop in Canberra: Questacon! 🧪⚡

Our Year 5 students had a fantastic time exploring the hands-on science experiences at Questacon! The highlights were definitely the Earthquake Room and braving the thrilling Free Fall slide!

Fun Fact: The name Questacon combines “quest” (to discover) and “con” (to study). It began with just 15 hands-on exhibits before becoming Australia’s National Science and Technology Centre!

Science certainly came to life today!

Day 2 in Canberra: National Electoral Education Centre!

Our Year 5 students experienced the voting process firsthand and learning how referendums can change the Australian Constitution.

Fun Fact: South Australian women won the right to vote on December 18, 1894, when the Parliament passed the Constitutional Amendment.

A fantastic hands-on lesson in Australian democracy!

Our Year 5 students explored the AIS and discovered what it takes to train like an elite Australian athlete!

Fun Facts: We learnt that a current AIS basketball player stands at an incredible 7’6” tall, and former Australian sprinter Patrick Johnson achieved an amazing 720 kg leg press! 🏋️‍♂️

An inspiring and action-packed stop!

Next stop: Mount Ainslie! 🇦🇺

Our Year 5 students took in the spectacular views of Canberra from Mount Ainslie Lookout, spotting some of the landmarks we have been exploring along the way!

Fun Fact: From the lookout, you can see straight down Anzac Parade towards Parliament House, a view designed as part of Canberra’s layout!

Year 5 Canberra Excursion: Australian War Memorial

Our next stop was the Australian War Memorial, where students took time to reflect, remember and honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served our country.

Fun Fact: Beside the Pool of Reflection, the gas-powered Eternal Flame continues to burn, symbolising that those who served and sacrificed will continue to live on in our memories.

Lest We Forget.
