SYDNEY NORTH ATHLETICS: A massive congratulations to our 13 Girls relay team who placed second at Sydney North Athletics Championships and will now compete at state level.

CHILD STUDIES: Students in the Year Nine Child Studies elective have been studying the module Health and Safety in Childhood. This week they participated in sessions on how to respond using the DRSABCD action plan and how to give CPR to children and babies.

CHEER TEAM: Our BWSC Umina Cheer Team, the Winged Warriors, are off to the Sunshine Coast to compete in the 100% Cheer National finals next week.

WEAR IT PURPLE: Today we celebrated Wear it Purple Day! It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate diversity, inclusion and the importance of creating safe and supportive spaces for all our students.

GRIFFIN NINE OUTDOOR EDUCATION: Today Griffin Nine had a fantastic day enjoying the great outdoors! We were lucky to have beautiful sunny weather, making it the perfect day for our activities.

Our students achieved some fantastic milestones:

* Bike riders completed an impressive 20 km.
* Trike and scooter group covered 8 km.
* Walkers enjoyed a 5 km walk.

Throughout the day, students worked towards their Outdoor Education learning outcomes by developing independence, resilience, road safety awareness, and confidence while participating in physical activity. It was wonderful to see everyone challenging themselves, and enjoying the experience.

A fantastic effort by all our Griffin Nine students—well done!

BASKETBALL: Another second! Yesterday our boys gave their all and thorougly enjoyed every moment. Congratulations to the whole team for supporting each other throughout the game!

WHOLE SCHOOL WORKSHOPS: Today all students participated in a series of wellbeing workshops, with the aim of increasing their cyber safety awareness and strengthening their protective factors to support positive decision making. Students heard from Coast Shelter and Police Youth Engagement Officers.

We strongly encourage parents and carers to have conversations with their children about the sessions. Some conversation starters include:
*What was the most important message?
*What was the most interesting thing you learned?
*Is there anything that surprised or shocked you?
*Did you leave with any questions? How can I help?

NETBALL: A HUGE congratulations to our under 15’s knockout team winning today by a thrilling 1 point against a very strong Northern Beaches Secondary College Mackellar Girls Campus.

The girls played an outstanding 4 quarters of netball and all played for each other right down to the last second. As a result of today’s win, the girls are now in the top 8 and progress to the QUARTER FINALS.

We are so proud of you girls and can’t wait to see you continue representing BWSC Umina later in September! A big thankyou to our wonderful parents and supporters for transporting the girls to today’s game and for the cheers on the sideline!
