On Friday IGS celebrated Day of AI Australia, with students across K–12 exploring artificial intelligence through hands-on learning, ethical discussions and expert presentations.
The day featured special assemblies and presentations with leading voices in education and technology, including experts from Universities and Canva, as students explored how AI is shaping the future.
Special thanks to Kimberley Law Digital Learning Specialist for organising such an enriching day, and to all guest speakers, teachers, faculty and business staff whose collaboration made it possible. Speech Night 2018 was a special celebration of achievement for our School as we honoured the person whose belief in bilingual education brought IGS into being – founding principal Reg St Leon. Commissioned by Principal Shauna Colnan and painted by internationally-renowned artist Dave Thomas, it was unveiled to the wider community by two key foundational staff members – Rita Morabito and Manuela Bachmann. A poignant moment of recognition, this portrait hangs in pride of place in the IGS Bibliothèque.

Year 6 spent three days in Canberra this week, bringing their classroom learning to life at some of Australia's most significant civic and cultural institutions. From Parliament House to the War Memorial, every stop connected directly to their studies in civics, geography and history.
A special thank you to Year 6 Coordinator Simon van Dinter for his work in organising the trip and to all the staff who made it such a worthwhile experience for our students.

Our Intermediate Theatresports Team competed in the first heat of the Theatresports Schools' Challenge at Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College on Monday evening coming in second place and progressing through to the semi-finals.
Students Eloise, Henry, Fenn and Bianca performed an impressive array of games, opening strong with a high-scoring commercial for glow in the dark socks, and ending with a dramatic soap opera that began as a love triangle in high school and ended in the perfumery. Who will leave smelling like 'love is in the air' and who will be stuck with the melancholy note of ‘Depression by Calvin Klein'.
The semi-final will take place on 9 June at St Augustine's Brookvale at 7pm. Tickets are available at the door.
Congratulations team!
