All things fair! Thank you to our school families that volunteered and donated to our annual fair and to the local businesses and community for all your support.

Last Thursday we were delighted to host three German teachers from the Goethe-Institut in Melbourne. In the morning, students in grades 1, 2 and 3 participated in a two-hour KinderUni workshop in which we learnt some German grammar and vocabulary, before building balloon rockets to race against each other. In the afternoon students in grades 4,5 and 6 also took part in a two-hour workshop to learn some new German verbs and adverbs, conduct a brief class survey (reporting their results in German) and then build a periscope using cardboard and mirrors. Learning German through scientific experiments provided a real world context for students to apply new language, as well as a challenging and engaging craft activity. The Goethe-Institut offers a range of online and in-person language courses for teens and adults, as well as events including the German film festival in May.

We were lucky enough to have a visit from local author and Illustrator Rebecca Mignone. This is her first written piece as an author called ‘Spaghetti’, .
Rebecca told us its ‘a bold, vibrant children's picture book celebrating Spaghetti and all the wonderful, unique, funny, wacky and sometimes strange ways we can celebrate this Italian dish. A book for all ages!’ Rebecca is pictured with two of our school leaders Harper & Freya
