🌱 We’ve just entered Spring, and grapevines are now “shooting”, making them particularly sensitive to spray drift from broadacre crop spraying. PIRSA reminds farmers to take care with associated spraying operations to avoid spray drift.
✅ Only spray in suitable weather – avoid winds over 20 km/h and hazardous inversion conditions (often around sunrise/sunset).
âś… Use the right nozzles and pressures to produce coarse droplets that drift less.
âś… Keep boom height as low as possible (ideally 0.5m above the target).
✅ Follow all label directions – penalties for non-compliance can be up to $35,000.
📞 If you see or suspect spray drift, call the Spray Drift Hotline on 1300 799 684 or email [email protected]
Reports can be made anonymously.
Let’s protect our neighbours, communities and environment 🌱
