A little reminder that **Book Week is now on!** We can’t wait to see all of our Little Grommets children dressed up as their favourite book characters. 📖💛

Art of Science Week 🌈🔬

As part of Art of Science Week, our kindy children had lots of fun participating in the colourful Skittles experiment!

The children carefully arranged Skittles around a plate and added water, then watched with excitement as the colours slowly dissolved and spread across the plate, creating a beautiful rainbow effect. 🌈

This simple experiment encouraged the children to observe, predict, explore and ask questions while learning about colours and how they interact with water.

It was a fun and engaging way to discover that science can be colourful, creative and full of wonder! ✨

Little Grommets Extra-Curricular Activities

At Little Grommets, we believe learning happens in many different ways. Alongside our everyday early learning program, we offer a range of extra-curricular activities designed to encourage children's confidence, physical development, creativity, independence and social skills.

Our current programs include:

🏊 Swimming Lessons – helping children build water confidence, swimming skills and water safety awareness.
⚽ Little Big Sport – fun, age-appropriate sports and movement activities that encourage coordination, teamwork and physical development.
🎵 Bop It Tots – music, movement and interactive experiences that encourage children to sing, dance and express themselves.
👩‍🍳 Cooking Classes – hands-on cooking experiences where children can explore food, develop independence and learn about healthy eating.
💃 Little Groovers – music, dance and movement sessions that encourage creativity, rhythm, confidence and self-expression.

These experiences provide children with opportunities to try new things, develop new skills and have fun while learning, all within the familiar and supportive environment of Little Grommets.

🔬🍓 Science Week in Preschool! 🌈🌱

Today our little scientists were busy experimenting, predicting, mixing and discovering!

🍓 We made delicious frozen strawberry yoghurt ice pops and explored how liquids change when frozen.
🫐 We created beautiful tie-dye using natural berries and discovered how colours can transfer and absorb into fabric.
🎨 We mixed primary colours to create secondary colours.
🌱 We investigated how plants absorb and transport water through their stems, then made connections to how blood travels through our veins and around our bodies. ❤️

So many wonderful opportunities to wonder, investigate, make predictions and learn through hands-on play! 🧪✨

As part of our Child Safety Program, Ditto from Bravehearts recently visited our preschool and kindergarten children to share the Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure show.

Through an engaging and age-appropriate adventure, Ditto spoke with the children about three important personal safety rules:

We all have the right to feel safe with people.

It’s okay to say “No” if you feel unsafe or unsure.

Nothing is so yucky that you can’t tell someone about it.

The children enjoyed learning these important messages in a fun and interactive way. We encourage families to continue talking with children about these safety rules at home and reminding them that they can always speak to a trusted adult if something makes them feel unsafe, uncomfortable or unsure.

We are grateful to Bravehearts and Ditto for helping our children build confidence and understand that they have the right to feel safe, speak up and be listened to.

As part of National Dental Week, our preschool children were lucky enough to have a special visit from Chloe at Mobile Dentistry Services! 🦷✨

Chloe spoke to the children about the importance of cleaning our teeth, what we use to brush our teeth, and when we should brush them. The children then had the opportunity to practise their brushing skills on some cuddly friends that Chloe brought along! 🪥🐻

A big thank you to Chloe for visiting us and helping our children learn all about the importance of looking after their teeth! 💙🦷

Rainbow Wheels 🌈♿

Miss Glenda recently purchased a wonderful book called Rainbow Wheels, written by local author Stephanie Collas. Stephanie wrote this beautiful story from her own experience of living with a wheelchair. Through her story, she encourages children to understand the importance of inclusion, respect and kindness.

The children in our Kindy room have loved listening to Rainbow Wheels and have enjoyed talking about how we can include and support everyone in our community.

Inspired by the story, the children created their own rainbow wheels and then used them to act out and retell the story. It was wonderful to see their creativity, imagination and understanding of inclusion as they explored the story through play.

We are so proud of the children for showing such thoughtful and caring attitudes towards others. 🌈💛
