National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is just around the corner, and we’re getting ready to celebrate with traditional games everyone can play.

Trevor named our character Eddy — an emu who represents Aboriginal culture, connection to Country, and the power of storytelling.

This year’s NAIDOC theme, “50 Years of Deadly,” celebrates five decades of the movement and honours the Elders, activists, artists and community leaders who have shaped it — while recognising the next generation who will carry it forward.

⭐ This is how social sustainability starts. Social sustainability isn’t a big project — it’s the tiny moments where children learn how to live together.

Next time you move from one activity to another this week, pause and ask:

🦖 “Should we stomp like dinosaurs?”
🕊️ “Or fly quietly like birds?”

Or try another tiny vote:

🌿 “Should we take the long way past the garden?”
🛝 “Or the short way past the playground?”

Two simple choices.
One quick vote.
A whole lot of learning.

Children practise:
✨ fairness
✨ turn‑taking
✨ agency
✨ being part of a group
✨ coping when their choice doesn’t win
✨ empathy for others who feel disappointed

This is social sustainability in its simplest form —
learning how to live together, fairly and kindly, through everyday decisions.
