THANKYOU Great Lakes College P&C!
We’re excited to share that our P&C has donated $30,000 to our college!
This generous gift will help improve resources and opportunities for our students. Thank you to everyone in the P&C for supporting our school community!

🎉 BIG NEWS FROM YOUR P&C!

At last week's meeting, the P&C voted to donate $30,000 across our three campuses: Forster, Tuncurry and Senior Campus.

The best part? The ideas came straight from the students. Our principals brought their wish lists to the meeting, including new soccer goals, football posts, extra seating and an outdoor learning area. There was even some wishful thinking in the mix, a boat for the fishing crew! 🎣

None of this happens without our P&C-run canteen. A huge thank you to the staff and volunteers who raised these funds, every recess and lunch order helps make things like this possible. 🙌

We can't wait to see these projects come to life. Watch this space!

The RFS will be conducting a Controlled Hazard Reduction Burn in the bush behind the school from about Midday today. The predicted southerly winds should take the smoke away from the school.

Yr 12 Earth and Environmental Science students spoke with Dr Megan Huggett, Associate Professor of Marine Science from The University of Newcastle, Australia and some of her PhD students. The PhD students spoke about their current field of research as well as their educational journeys and navigating the transition from school to university. The research that some of the students are working on included research into White's Sea Horse, The impact of Climate Change on Crop Production in NSW and the importance of fragile marine habitat zones on our coast.

One of the PhD students even extended an invitation for our students to join her when she is collecting water samples in Wallis Lake to analyse for Environmental DNA.
