Spontaneous excursions to our local business provide so much valuable learning for our children. We are so pleased that we had the opportunity to visit with the boys at the Tuncurry Post Office, when we posted items and picked up the mail, as their next chapter of life begins. Thank you for all of the times you have accepted our unexpected visits. It is these memories that children take with them in their learning journey. Our "Beyond the Gate" venture also took us to the local bakery, Butterfingers and Woolies for our much loved banana donation. We just love our banana smash icecream and banana bread made from these. Thankyou ....

Well, another "Book Week" done and dusted. So many fabulous and inventive costumes to accompany wonderful story books, that were shared with each other. Some old favourites along with some great new characters. Recycling book week costumes seemed to be the theme with many of our educators, which aligned beautifully with our philosophy's sustainability commitment. Whilst our families supported our safety aspect, in choosing or modifying costumes to make them safe in play, like avoiding hooded costumes and safe footwear options. It was a great effort by all and it was wonderful to see the wonder in the children's eyes as they guessed at the associated books and characters depicted. Literacy lives on in the stories the children hold dear.
The welcome our preschoolers received at Tuncurry School's Book Week parade on Thursday was overwhelming and an excellent opportunity for children transitioning to school in 2027. Thankyou for allowing us to be a part of your parade and share in the joy....

Again another community experience organised for all of the children at Kindilan, from our infant room to our preschoolers, everyone had an opportunity to be a part of the Ambulance visit last Friday. Thank you to Sam for providing us with this "Beyond the Gate" interactive learning to appreciate the commendable job our paramedics do each and every day. This experience may help to minimise some fears our children may have should any of them have to travel in an ambulance in the future. It's so much more than "lights & sirens". We can't thank you enough Sam and NSW Ambulance Services.

Endless learning and possibilities are gained from our "Beyond the Gate" program. Recently our older preschool children were fortunate enough to travel on a bus from Kindilan to the MEC in Taree, where they watched one of their favourite stories "Where is the green sheep?" play out on stage. This excursion was made possible by the parents/grandparents participation and help, the organisation and enthusiasm of our educators and the subsidy for the tickets provided by the MEC & Mid Coast Council.

Throughout the year, various incursions are organised to support the children's interests and anticipated EYLF learning outcomes, whilst ensuring the learning shared aligns with Kindilan's Centre philosophy.
Recently, we had Shoana visit with her "Big Leap Circus" performance which focused on sustainability and recycling messages. The children were enthralled in the experience and refer to her as the "frog lady" which was how she was dressed and introduced herself.
Later this year we look forward to having a reptile show visit, which is going to contain safety information when encountering reptiles in their natural habitats, whilst being introduced to some reptile species.

If there is mail to collect for Kindilan, a small group of preschoolers volunteer to stop at the Post Office on their way to Woolies. Warrick allowed us to all go behind the scenes at the post office to see how the mail is sorted for collection, which consolidated the learning and interests the children were already exploring in sending letters and how they arrive at our homes. Thankyou for this opportunity and we plan to extend this learning with one of our grandfathers planning to visit with their specialised postal EV bikes and allowing us to send postcards to ourselves or family members. Just another "Beyond the Gate" experience with community partnerships.

Regularly the preschool children venture out in small group on spontaneous excursions to the local supermarket to collect the bananas that Woolworths donates to our community Centre. Expectations are discussed with the children prior to every excursion so that they are prepared for what will occur and how to act when out in the community. The other shoppers are very excited to see us in our high vis vests and green excursion hats. The bananas are transported in a beach trolley directly to our kitchen cook to be used in our meals, such as banana smash ice creams, banana bread and muffins. Thankyou to Woolies and to the educators for these valuable learning "Beyond the Gate" experiences.
