Vaccination is so important for all species! So many deadly diseases are preventable, please be responsible

A horse that was euthanized at the clinic on Thursday of last week, was found to be positive for RABIES. The horse came from Shackelford county and multiple people are going to have to go thru the rabies protocol treatments. The horse first started showing neurological signs like stumbling and falling out of a trailer; progressing to severe ataxia and blindness. I've been doing this for 20 years. In that time, I've seen a handful of rabid horses. The thing is, almost invariably, there will be 4 -5 people exposed before it is determined that the horse was rabid. Trust me, you don't want to go thru the treatments and you don't want to sit around for 6 days, like these people had to do, waiting to get the results. When your life or that of your child hangs in the balance, 6 days is a long time. This disease is 100% preventable if properly vaccinated. Likewise, this disease is 100% FATAL once the animal or person starts showing any symptoms. Don't take the chance. Have all you dogs, cats and horses vaccinated for rabies.
