🌶️🧠 WE’RE OFFICIALLY LEGIT! 🧠🌶️

After an alarming amount of paperwork, uncountable cups of coffee, and only very minor serious questioning of our life choices…

Spicy Brains Production Company is now officially a registered charity! 🎉

Yes, you read that correctly!!

We are now a legitimate charitable organisation.

Which is frankly terrifying.

But more importantly, it means we can finally start getting on with the bit we actually wanted to do — making things happen. 🎭

We’ve been quietly working away behind the scenes, and things are about to get considerably more interesting.

And possibly more spicy.

And definitely more brainy.

And if you've been wondering what we've been up to…

We can't tell you what it is yet. (you can take a few guesses . . . )

Mostly because we'd like to maintain an air of mystery, although, knowing Spicy Brains, there may also be some mysterious air involved.

Casting Call!!!

Hi folks we need your help!!! We are looking for two female actors that can play African/American characters for an upcoming production.

Character breakdowns are:

Margaret (35-60): The First Lady, intelligent, poised, and dealing with her husband's public insult.

Chris (25-45): A subversively candid journalist and single mother struggling to juggle everything in the country’s most important press room.

Whether you or someone you know has some previous acting experience or would just like to give theatre a try then we would love to chat as these characters are crucial for what is a very funny and timely play about American politics.

CHOOKAS for tonight’s opening Hand to God at Red Tree Theatre!
It’s dark, it’s hilarious and we have only heard good things of this show!

A big thank you to Jopuka Productions for inviting Spicy Brain’s Brendan Abela and James Beggs to your first Let’s Read….
Such a fun play that certainly provoked a lot of discussion, with James and myself continuing that conversation much later into the night.
And that’s exactly why I love reading a play with a bunch of people. Everyone is going to be affected by the material in different ways and hearing all those perspectives can give you even more insight and appreciation of the piece.
And let’s face it. I’m not likely to get the chance to play a sixteen year old girl on an American School Soccer Team (which was a hoot 😂) any other time.
Look forward to participating again in the future and hope the community continues to grow 🎭🙂

Spicy Brain #3 = Stephanie (Steph) Burton

Steph has been around the Central Coast theatre community for what feels like....forever.

Most recently been in Red Tree Theatres Production of "Calendar Girls" as Marie, several voices in "War of the Worlds" and Miss Maudie in "to Kill a Mockingbird" with Wyong Drama Group.

She is looking forward to making creative space on the coast that is different and a little bit odd...and a bit fresh. Real life stories and all life challenges.

With a lifetime in theatre and screen, James has appeared in productions including Wayside Bride, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, None of Woman Born, and Young Frankenstein. Screen credits include the international award-winning short film Mimic.
When not performing, James runs a theatre and dance photography business, capturing performers at their most vulnerable and occasionally mid-blink.

After years behind the lens, James has decided it is time to return to the stage and reinsert themselves, carefully, and likely against medical advice, into more Central Coast productions.
