PURSUING EXCELLENCE // CITY CUP CHAMPIONS – STATE FINAL BOUND! ❤️💚💙

What a few weeks of Rugby League for St Peter’s, headlined by an incredible performance from our U16 Girls, who defeated Ashcroft HS to win the NRL City Cup and progress to the Schoolgirl Trophy State Final!

After losing seven players from the squad that started the year, the girls travelled with just 14 players. Their “next person up” mentality was on show, producing what Mr Hawkins described as one of the gutsiest St Peter’s performances he has seen.

Elsewhere, our teams have continued to impress:

🏉 U13 Girls – Runners Up at the Roosters 9s in their first College RL tournament, with several girls playing their first ever game and scoring their first tries!

🏆 U14 Girls – Undefeated CSBB 9s Champions. A strong attacking display of Rugby League, rarely being tested all day.

🥈 U13 Boys – CSBB RL Championship Runners Up, narrowly losing the final by one try.

🏉 U15 Boys – Tested themselves in a tough, physical friendly contest against St Edward’s.

🏆 Open Girls – Central Coast Roosters League Tag Champions, capped off by an impressive Grand Final victory!

An outstanding period for Rugby League at St Peter’s, with plenty to be proud of across all age groups. The RISE Program continues to do a fantastic job of developing our players and teams.

DANCE // ST PETER’S TROUPE SHINE BRIGHT!

What an incredible school holidays for our Dance Troupe!

At The Movement Dance Competition, our talented dancers shone bright, placing:
🥇 1st in Contemporary
🥉 3rd in Jazz
🤩 4th in Lyrical

Then on Saturday 25 July, our Jazz Dance Troupe headed to Hurstville for the Australian Dance Festival Qualifiers. After workshops with industry professionals, they competed in the Resonate Wild Card Qualifier — and qualified for the Australian Dance Festival Live Show Finals! They’ll now perform alongside some of the best school dance teams in the country.

These results are a true testament to the dedication, early morning rehearsals and lunchtime sacrifices our dancers make every week. We are so proud of every single one of them and can’t wait to cheer them on in the finals this September! 🙌

These experiences highlight the outstanding opportunities available to students at our College, and the incredibly skilled teaching staff that guide them 🤩 A huge thank you to Ms Nakhoul, Mrs Brook, Ms Issa, Mrs Bradstreet and Mrs Lyons for your ongoing support, time and encouragement. Your commitment means everything 🫶

ILP CREATIVE WRITING // A SPOOK-TACULAR ACHIEVEMENT!

Congratulations to Audrey M (Year 7), who has been shortlisted in the KSP Spooky Story Competition through her ILP Creative Writing studies!

Being shortlisted means Audrey’s story will be published in the printed KSP Spooky Story Anthology, produced by Dragonfly Publishing—an incredible accomplishment for a young writer.

Audrey’s success is a wonderful example of what can be achieved through our Integrated Learning Projects (ILP) Program. Available to all Year 7 and 8 students, ILP provides opportunities for students to pursue their passions, develop new skills, collaborate with others, and embrace exciting learning challenges.

With the competition winners and placegetters to be announced in September, we wish Audrey the very best of luck. In the meantime, her success has inspired many of our other creative writers, who are now eagerly crafting their own spooky tales!

Please join us in congratulating Audrey on this outstanding achievement! 👏✍️📖

OZTAG // CENTRAL COAST ALL SCHOOLS CHAMPIONS

We had a number of outstanding sporting achievements to celebrate at the end of last term, including a strong showing at the Central Coast All Schools Oztag Competition. With 5 of our 6 teams progressing to at least the semi-finals, St Peter's enjoyed a highly successful couple of days of competition. A special congratulations to our U16 Girls, who defeated Central Coast Sports College in a thrilling extra-time final to claim the title. Congratulations also to our U14 Boys, who finished as runners-up after a hard-fought grand final against Central Coast Sports College. Both teams have qualified for the Champions of Champions competition this term, and we wish them the very best of luck. Well done to all students who represented St Peter's with skill, determination and sportsmanship! 🏆🏉

PATHWAYS & PARTNERSHIPS // VET HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY IMMERSION

Our Year 11 VET Hospitality students recently enjoyed an inspiring industry visit to Baker Street, Gosford, where Chef Dan provided a firsthand look at the skill, teamwork and dedication required to deliver exceptional hospitality experiences.

Students gained valuable insight into both front and back-of-house operations, learning how collaboration, communication and professionalism come together in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Organised by our Pathways Lead in partnership with the VET Faculty, the excursion helped bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry practice, giving students a deeper understanding of the exciting career opportunities available in the hospitality sector.

A big thank you to Chef Dan and the Baker Street team for sharing their expertise and supporting the development of our future hospitality professionals.

VALE BARRY SHANLEY 😔 It is with great sadness that we share some heartbreaking news with our school community.

Mr Barry Shanley, former Principal of St John Fisher Catholic School from 2008 to 2021, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday night.

Barry was a deeply respected and much-loved principal who dedicated himself to the students, families and staff of St John Fisher Catholic School. Barry had an extraordinary ability to know every student and parent by name and was renowned for his kindness, compassion and genuine care for others. Barry was always there to support families and colleagues through difficult times, and his impact on our community will always be treasured.

We offer our love and prayers for Barry’s family as they come to terms with their devastating loss.

May Barry rest in eternal peace 🕊️
