📚✨Heritage Country Small Schools’ Book Week Celebrations✨📚

We were thrilled to host this year’s Heritage Country Small Schools’ Book Week celebrations at Trunkey Public School, joined by students and staff from Neville Public School and Lyndhurst Public School. This day has become a joyous tradition over the years for our students, their families and staff. This year’s theme, Symphonies of Stories,’ truly came to life in our colourful covered outdoor learning area.

Students and staff dressed as their favourite book character, parading with pride in an amazing variety of costumes - from nursery rhymes and Marvel heroes to Australians-themed texts and timeless classics. Our vibrant backdrop added to the effect, making for perfect photo moments.

The day was filled with engaging literacy workshops, inspired by the CBCA shortlisted books for 2026. We also held a Book Fair, and a huge thank you is extended to our generous families and staff for donating more quality literature to enrich our ever-expanding school library.

What a fabulous way to celebrate the love of reading and to pay homage to quality Australian children’s literature! 📖 ❤️

Last Wednesday, Trunkey Public School students had a fantastic day filled with learning, laughter and friendship at the Heritage Country Small Schools Life Education Day, hosted by Carcoar Public School! 🌟

Our students enjoyed taking part in exciting team-building activities and sports with students from other Heritage Country Small Schools. They also learned important safety lessons from our police liaison officer before visiting Healthy Harold and Maree in the Life Education van! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🚓🦒

It was wonderful to see everyone having fun, learning new things and building friendships throughout the day.

Thank you to all the presenters and staff who helped make the day possible, and to Carcoar Public School for warmly welcoming us. Our students returned to school with big smiles and many wonderful memories to share! 💛

👖 JEANS FOR GENES 🧬 DAY!

We are excited to announce that Trunkey Public School students, staff and community have raised $220 to assist with funds needed for continued research into Australian children’s genetic diseases. One in ten children in Australia suffer from a genetic disease; a statistic that we would all like to see reduced.

We wore jeans to school today and paid a gold coin donation for the opportunity to attend school out of uniform. There was a variety of dyed denim on display, straight style jeans, flared cuffs and frills, along with colourful motifs and accessories.

Our school’s initial raised funds of $110 were matched by Lowe’s Menswear, a valued sponsor of Jeans for Genes Day, honouring their vow to match donations from today’s fundraising efforts, initially to the value of $4,000 and later in the day, increased to an incredibly generous 8,000!!! Our school’s donation was therefore doubled to $220!

Many thanks to the students, their parents, our staff, the generous community of Trunkey Creek and, of course, Lowe’s Menswear for getting behind such an important fundraiser.

A grateful Mrs Cogdell / Principal

📚 EDUCATION WEEK 🧪- LEADERS’ LUNCHEON - INSPIRING EXCELLENCE EVERY DAY 🤩

Today, our student leaders had the privilege of representing Trunkey Public School at the annual Heritage Country Small Schools’ Leaders’ Luncheon, a special event celebrating leadership, learning and community service across all three of our schools.

We were delighted to host Mr Mark Snow, the newly appointed Director, Educational Leadership for the Bathurst Network, who shared heartfelt reflections on his own personal journey and the key people who have shaped his path. Mr Snow highlighted the importance of self belief, ongoing growth, and drawing inspiration from those around us. His powerful message reminded us that leadership is defined by the choices we make, the relations we nurture and the positive impact we have on others.

Following this, students participated in a meaningful leadership activity developed by Mrs Hicks, APC&I at all three of our schools. The session explored the seven essential leadership traits:
1. Being proactive,
2. Beginning with the end in mind,
3. Prioritising,
4. Thinking win-win,
5. Seeking first to understand, then to be understood
6. Synergise and
7. Preparing thoroughly for the task at hand.
This experience reinforced the idea that every student has the capacity to lead, motivate and achieve in their own unique way.

We extend our sincere thanks to our special guests, Wiradjuri Elder, Nyree Reynolds, and Director, Educational Leadership, Mr Mark Snow. We also gratefully acknowledge the staff at Tony G’s Bistro in Blayney, for their delicious catering.

What a great turn out for our first P&C meeting of term 3!
Congratulations to Mr Paul Langworthy on being voted in as the new president for 2026-27🎉
A P&C helps make a small school a better place for students, staff & families. It raises money for resources, equipment, and extracurricular activities that enhance students learning experiences.
Everyone is welcome. Meetings are held at school on the 3rd Tuesday of each month in school terms @ 3.30pm.
