Brinda Patel: The Mac.Robertson Girls’ High School
Selective Entry Exam 2026

Brinda Patel’s journey represents an exemplary case of merit, perseverance, resilience, and sustained determination.

Brinda was a highly deserving candidate in her first attempt at gaining entry to Mac.Robertson Girls’ High School. However, her examination experience was adversely affected by an unusual issue with the test materials provided at her examination centre. It was reported that certain pages were missing from the question booklet. Brinda and other affected students brought this matter to the attention of the examination supervisor; however, the issue could not be adequately resolved at the time, resulting in students having to make random guesses for questions to which they did not have any access.

This incident was understandably distressing for Brinda as well as for other students who encountered the same difficulty. Despite recognising that circumstances beyond her control may have influenced the outcome, Vrinda did not allow this setback to diminish her motivation or confidence.

A particularly notable aspect of Brinda’s journey reflects her personal character. When she first communicated the difficulties she had experienced in the previous year’s examination, she did so with the same composure and positivity that she later displayed when returning to our office with her family to share the news of her selection. Her ability to remain composed in the face of disappointment reflects a level of maturity and strength of character that is well beyond her years.

Rather than allowing the setback to define her trajectory, Brinda responded with resilience and continued her academic efforts. Her abilities and sustained hard work were subsequently recognised through the award of a prestigious scholarship to St Catherine’s School in Toorak, an achievement of considerable distinction in its own right.

Brinda’s aspiration to attend Mac.Robertson Girls’ High School remained a central academic goal, and she continued to pursue it with determination, discipline, and perseverance.

Brinda’s achievement is a source of significant satisfaction and serves to reinforce an important principle we consistently emphasise to students: one’s responsibility is to perform to the best of one’s ability with sincerity and diligence, while maintaining focus and allowing outcomes to follow accordingly.

Today I had a wonderful, unexpected reunion — my former student Vishwa was the one who did my routine ECG at a hospital visit. Seeing her now as a skilled, caring healthcare professional was such a moving experience.

Vishwa was a student at Melbourne Tutorials and was selected for the prestigious Macrobertson Girls’ High School. She was also felicitated at the Melbourne Tutorials Awards function back in 2018. Melbourne Tutorials is pleased to announce Scholarship, SEAL and Accelerated Program Preparation for current Grade 5 students who will be preparing for Grade 6 scholarship exams, SEAL entry tests and other accelerated learning program selections next year.

The program is suitable for students who are academically capable, committed and ready to work at a higher level.

Scholarship exams, SEAL entry tests and accelerated program selections are highly competitive. They require students to demonstrate strong academic ability, reasoning skills, writing skills, problem-solving ability, comprehension, speed, accuracy and exam confidence.

Our program is designed to expose students to challenging content, advanced curriculum, exam-style questions and timed practice. Students will work on strengthening the core skills commonly assessed in scholarship exams, SEAL testing and accelerated learning program entry assessments.

This is not a general tuition program. It is a fast-paced, intensive academic preparation program for students ready for advanced learning and regular practice.
