Reconciliation Week Reflection (27.05.2026 â 02.06.2026)
Womindjeka families,
During Reconciliation Week, our community engaged in meaningful experiences that deepened childrenâs understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, connection to Country, and the importance of coming together in the spirit of reconciliation.
A highlight of the week was our incursion with Nikki Visaj Movement, where children explored Indigenous dance. Through movement, rhythm and storytelling, children experienced how dance is used to share culture, identity and connection to land.
We also worked on a sustainability project, creating the Aboriginal flag using recycled bottle caps. This hands-on activity encouraged children to think about caring for Country while engaging in collaborative artmaking. As part of this project, we recorded the childrenâs voices, capturing their reflections and thoughts in their own words.
Throughout the week, the children participated in a range of rich learning experiences, including:
Tracing symbols in sand â exploring Aboriginal symbols and storytelling through sensory play
Dot painting on leaves â connecting natural materials with traditional art techniques
Hand-printing the Aboriginal flag â expressing identity and belonging through collaborative artwork
These experiences supported children in developing respect, cultural awareness, creativity and a sense of shared responsibility for our environment and community.

At Nido Truganina, we came together to celebrate Nido Appreciation Day in a way that truly reflected the spirit of our community. Itâs a moment to pause, acknowledge, and genuinely appreciate the educators who pour so much of themselves into the children and families they support.
We wanted the experience to feel warm, personal, and heartfelt, so our incredible Chef prepared a beautiful inâhouse brunch that brought everyone together around the table. It wasnât just about the food â though it was delicious â it was about creating a space where our educators felt seen, valued, and cared for. A space where they could slow down, share a meal, and be reminded of how deeply their dedication shapes the lives of the children in our care.
Our families played a meaningful role in honoring our educators, offering thoughtful expressions of appreciation that highlighted the deep relationships built throughout the year. Through written messages, personal reflections, and warm interactions, families articulated the value they see in the dedication and care our educators bring to their work. This shared moment of gratitude strengthened our community and underscored the collaborative spirit that defines us.

Nido Early School Truganina had the pleasure of hosting two enriching incursions on 31.03.2026, offering our children a day filled with exploration, curiosity, and handsâon learning.
The first experience was our Swim School Program Incursion, where children engaged in waterâsafety learning through interactive demonstrations and ageâappropriate discussions. They explored concepts such as safe water play, recognising danger zones, and understanding the importance of adult supervision. The session encouraged confidence, awareness, and early safety habits in a fun and supportive environment.
Alongside this, we were delighted to host a heartâwarming Pet Incursion, thoughtfully facilitated by one of our own team members, who generously introduced the children to her beloved pets, Toby and Milo. The children were captivated as they learned about animal care, gentle handling, and the unique characteristics of each pet. This experience supported their socialâemotional development, empathy, and understanding of living things.

17 March 2026
St Patrickâs Day brought a sense of joy, curiosity, and togetherness to Nido Early School Truganina as children and educators embraced the celebration with open hearts. The centre was filled with shades of green, creative energy, and moments that highlighted the wonder of early childhood.
đ A Day Filled With Creativity
Throughout the day, children were invited to explore a variety of greenâthemed experiences that encouraged creativity, sensory engagement, and selfâexpression.
- They decorated and painted their own shamrocks, each one reflecting their individuality and growing confidence as young artists.
- Green playdough and painting experiences offered opportunities for children to explore texture, colour mixing, and imaginative play.
These activities supported fine motor development while giving children the freedom to express their ideas in meaningful ways.
đż Nursery Clover Hunt: Exploring Nature With Wonder
Our Nursery children enjoyed a gentle outdoor excursion where they set off on a clover hunt. This simple yet enriching experience allowed them to slow down and observe the natural world around them.
Their excitement was evident in every discoveryâwhether it was a clover, a leaf, or simply the joy of exploring together. These moments nurtured their sense of curiosity, belonging, and connection to nature.
đ A Community United in Green
Our educators joined in the celebration by dressing in green, helping to create a warm and festive atmosphere that the children immediately responded to. This shared enthusiasm strengthened our sense of community and highlighted the importance of celebrating cultural events together.

Today we had the joy of Holi at Nido Early School Truganina, bringing together our children, educators, and students in a vibrant and meaningful experience. The excitement was evident as the children explored colours, shared laughter, and embraced the spirit of togetherness that Holi represents.
We approached the celebration with care and sensitivity, ensuring that every childâs comfort, wellbeing, and individual permissions were respected. Colours were applied only to children who had approval for face painting, and educators remained attentive to each childâs needs throughout the experience. Safety was prioritised at every stepâduring play, while moving through the environment, and when capturing photosâso that the celebration remained both joyful and secure.
The childrenâs enthusiasm, combined with thoughtful guidance from educators, created a warm and inclusive atmosphere that honoured the cultural significance of Holi while supporting each childâs sense of belonging.
