Tantrums can be tough—for children and their grown-ups! 💛

When a child is having a tantrum, they’re not trying to give you a hard time. They’re often overwhelmed by big feelings they don’t yet have the skills to understand or express.

In these moments, try to:

🌟 Stay as calm as you can
🌟 Get down to your child’s eye level
🌟 Acknowledge their feelings
🌟 Connect before you correct

Tantrums aren’t manipulation, and they don’t mean you’re doing anything wrong as a parent. Testing boundaries is a normal part of how children learn, while patient guidance helps them develop emotional skills that support lasting change.

At Bright Beginnings, we’re here to help children grow, learn and understand their emotions—while giving parents practical strategies, reassurance and connection along the way.

What is Bright beginnings?
Bright Beginnings is a nurturing, play-based early intervention program designed for children from birth to five years of age. Led by experienced early childhood educators and developed in consultation with an Occupational Therapist, the program supports children to build the foundational skills they need to thrive.
Through purposeful play, music, sensory experiences, movement, stories and hands-on activities, children are encouraged to develop communication, social, emotional, cognitive and fine and gross motor skills in a fun and supportive environment. Parents and carers are supported every step of the way with practical strategies, guidance and connections to early intervention services, empowering families to confidently navigate the early years together.
