As we begin our Book Week celebrations, thank you to 2SF who beautifully led our Community Prayer this morning, reflecting on the 2026 Book Week theme, “Symphony of Stories.”

We were also delighted to welcome acclaimed South Australian author Charlie Archbold to our school today. Charlie shared her love of storytelling with students from Reception to Year 6, giving them a wonderful insight into how authors develop ideas, create characters and bring stories to life.

Her visit was an inspiring way to begin Book Week and a great encouragement for our young writers as they continue their own creative writing journeys. Thank you for joining us Charlie.

Don’t forget to have your costumes ready for our Book Week Parade on Wednesday!

We asked the children why someone should come and see St Joseph’s School Tranmere. Here’s what they said. Catholic Schools Open Week is on now, our next tour is 3 September.

“Recently our Year 6 School Captains took part in a leadership day at Prospect Football Club. We were really excited!

“First, we played a board game with Year 6 leaders from other Catholic primary schools. It was a fun way to meet new people and get to know the other students. One of the best parts of the day was spending time with other School Captains and learning about what they do at their schools. We also worked together as a team to come up with a plan for making a prayer book.

“The day helped us learn more about being good leaders, working together and taking responsibility. It was a great experience!”

Catholic Schools Open Week starts today, and we have a Principal Tour running on Saturday 22 August.

If you know a family with a two or three year old who is starting to think about where to send their little one, pass this along. We are now enrolling for 2029 and places are filling earlier than most families expect.

The tour is about an hour. A walk through the school while it is in action, time to ask what is on your mind, and a chance to get a real sense of whether St Joseph's School Tranmere is the right fit.

The link to book is in our bio.

Welcome to our Semester 2 Little Stars!

We are so excited to welcome our newest Little Stars as they begin their journey with us before joining our Reception classes in 2027.

This special time in our Transition Program is all about building confidence, making new friends, becoming familiar with our school routines, and feeling a strong sense of belonging in our St Joseph’s Tranmere community. Last Friday the children met our wellbeing dog for the first time with Mrs Barrett teaching them how to safely interact with Bonnie.

We can’t wait to watch our Little Stars shine as they learn, play and grow together!

Today we celebrated Mary MacKillop’s Feast Day, united by the theme “Josephite Leaders Making Change Happen.”

Our day began with a beautiful Community Prayer led by our Year 6 Josephite School Leaders, followed by buddy and learning activities that helped students explore Mary MacKillop’s legacy and the Josephite story. A highlight was seeing every adult and child wearing a badge with their chosen quality—qualities such as “brave, kind, respectful, loving, gentle, resilient, caring, and hopeful” were proudly displayed.

A heartfelt thank you to our families for your generous donations supporting Mary MacKillop Today, helping make a real difference for children in need. Thank you to all our students, staff and school community for helping us make a positive impact together.

Congratulations to Tyler (Year 6) on being selected for the SAPSASA golf tournament!

Tyler's recollections of the day:-

"On the 30th and 31st of July at the Patawilunga short course I played 2 rounds of 15 holes for SAPSASA golf with my dad as my caddie. I played okay on the first day but I was a little nervous and on the second day I played much better. That performance placed me in 40th out of 100 players which is the top half. Overall, I had a fun time, made friends and learnt lots about how to play and how golf etiquette works."

What a great experience Tyler, we are so proud of your achievement!

The Catholic Schools Cross Country Carnival yesterday was a wonderful success, with our Year 3–6 students proudly representing St Joseph’s on the challenging 2km Adelaide Parklands course.
Congratulations to all our runners, especially our Year 3 Girls Division A team, whose outstanding results earned St Joseph’s the banner for highest-performing school in their division. In this race, special congratulations go to Lottie who was placed 1st, Mia placed 3rd and Haley placed 5th. Other standout performances include Isabella placed 4th, Zara placed 5th, Tyler placed 13th and Hendrix placed 15th in their own races and divisions.
While the impressive results are certainly worth celebrating, the true highlight of the day was the way our students represented St Joseph’s. Throughout the carnival, students demonstrated tremendous enthusiasm, determination, and sportsmanship.
A special thank you to Mr Scott, Ms McCarthy, our parent helpers Bianca and Susan, and all the family members who came along to support.
We are incredibly proud of everyone’s outstanding efforts – congratulations!

Congratulations to the children from our school community who, along with other children in the Parish, celebrated their Confirmation and First Holy Communion (Eucharist) on Sunday at a service led by Archbishop Patrick O'Regan. This completes their sacramental journey which was started in Baptism and the children are now full members of the Catholic Church.

Congratulations to the children, their families and their sponsors on this very significant moment in their lives.

You might have heard Bonnie’s name around the treetops of Tranmere. This month she made it into SA Life magazine too.

Bonnie is our school wellbeing dog, and if you have ever dropped your child off on a hard morning you already know what she does. She meets children at the gate, sits with them when things feel big, and somehow makes a full day feel more manageable before the bell has even rung.

It is lovely when the rest of South Australia gets to know her too.

Copies available at the front office or you can pick up the July edition of SA Life.
