This week, two of our students had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Queensland Bishopsโ€™ Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

It was a beautiful Eucharistic celebration and a special opportunity for our students to participate in the life of our wider Catholic community. As active members of both our school and parish ministries, serving as altar servers and readers, it was particularly meaningful for them to take part in the diocesan celebration.

Hope is Alive!โœจ

Each year, our Mini Vinnies take part in a Sleepout Experience where they pack toiletry bags for people experiencing homelessness in our local community.

To support this great cause, we are asking for donations of the following items:

Prep - toothpaste
Year 1 - toothbrush
Year 2 - men's roll on deodorant
Year 3 - women's roll on deodorant
Year 4 - pocket pack of tissues
Year 5 - travel-sized body wash
Year 6 - travel sized 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner

Please send any donations to the classroom by Thursday, 3 September. If you have multiple children please do not feel pressured to bring all of your items, just choose one. Thank you for your generosity!

Our 5B students shone at their class Expo, taking total ownership of their learning. By following their curiosity, they researched, questioned, and presented on an incredible variety of topics including disaster management, rainbows, democracy, the human eye, and states of matter.

๐ŸŽ’ Up Next: Grade 5 Camp in the Paluma Rainforest! On Monday, 5B will head outdoors to explore the rainforest and challenge themselves! Excitement is running high, and we can't wait to see them tackle this next big adventure. ๐Ÿƒ

Being on Time Matters โฐ๐Ÿ’™

A couple of minutes here and there might not seem like much, but those minutes can quickly add up.

Arriving at school on time means your child is ready to learn from the very beginning of the day. It helps them settle into the classroom, connect with their classmates and teachers, and start the day feeling calm and prepared.

As our infographic shows:

โฐ 5 minutes late each day = 3 days of learning missed each year

โฐ 30 minutes late each day = 18 days of learning missed each year

And remember, the school day continues right through until the official finish time. Collecting children early, even by 10 or 15 minutes, means they can miss important learning, instructions, classroom activities and opportunities to finish their day with their classmates.

Those little moments really do matter. Minutes lost can become days lost.

Arrive on time. Stay until the bell. Make every minute count! ๐Ÿ’™

Attendance Matters ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™

A day here and there might not seem like much, but every day of learning matters.

Regular school attendance gives children the best opportunity to learn, build friendships, develop routines and experience all that school has to offer.

As our infographic shows, small patterns of absence can quickly add up:

๐Ÿ“… 1 day absent each fortnight = around 4 weeks of learning missed in a year and 1 year missed over a school life
๐Ÿ“… 1 day absent each week = around 8 weeks of learning missed in a year and 2.5 years missed over a school life

Thatโ€™s why attendance matters. Days lost can become weeks lost, and weeks lost can become years of learning missed.

We understand that children are sometimes unwell or unable to attend school, but where possible, we encourage families to make every school day count.

Every day. Every lesson. Every opportunity. ๐Ÿ’™
