Uniting Early Learning Riverview Riverview Play Centre is working to be Townsville's most flexible Child Care Centre, where families, childcare and education go hand in hand.

We aim to provide 'take-a-break' care for parents of children aged birth through to 5 years. Riverview Play Centre is an occasional day care centre and we are licensed by the Office of Early Childhood Education and Care. Riverview is licensed for 38 children a day, 5 days a week, 48 week of the year, under the Child Care Act 2002 and the Child Care Regulations of 2003. Our three groups of children are
1. Baby Toddler Unit - babies and toddlers until they turn 2
2. Junior Kindy - These children turn 3 during the year
3. Pre-Prep - These children turn 4 or 5 during the year. If your child needs a little longer in their room we leave them. If the child needs more challenges we move them a little sooner. Moving a child is in joint consultation with parents, staff and vacancy availability.

🚀We are celebrating World Space Week this week!🛸

The week highlights the impact of space science and technology on society and encourages curiosity, innovation and learning in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)

It is usually observed from 4th-10th October each year but at Riverview our calendar is jam packed with learning so we decided to slide it to this week to ensure the children had the opportunity to fully explore.

Across all age groups the children have been busy investigating lots of different space themed learning. The nursery children linked their learning to language development with Twinkle Little Star, Junior Kindy are exploring space with sensory play that incorporates fine motor skills and mathematical concepts and Kindy have started making a rocket ship and learning about the solar system.

Learn how to respond to an Asthma emergency.

This free asthma first aid course helps parents feel calm, confident and ready. It covers everything a parent or carer needs to feel prepared and confident if their child has an asthma attack, including:

✅How to recognise the signs and symptoms of an asthma attack in a child
✅How to assess the severity of an asthma episode
✅How to respond calmly and correctly in an asthma emergency
✅How to administer first aid for an asthma episode, including correct spacer use
✅How to assess and manage the situation until emergency services arrive

🎁OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD🎁

This year our centre is participating in Operation Christmas Child. This project is a hands-on way for you to demonstrate love to children in need across the world by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and fun gifts.

We have a shoebox on display in the foyer with some gift suggestions to fill the boxes. If you would like to take a box and fill it, please let me know, or if you would prefer to provide items from the list please bring them in and the children will assist with filling the boxes as they learn about the joy of giving to those less fortunate.

The artwork on the sleeves was created by Aboriginal Graphic Designer and Artist, Elaine Chambers-Hegarty. We also have a beautifully framed creative process of the artwork for display in our foyer and the full artwork display, so make sure you take a look on the way through.
