🏉 Walla Cup Challenge Final | 2026

What an incredible finish to this year’s Walla Cup Challenge! Our finalists, Scotland and Ireland, delivered a thrilling match filled with determination, teamwork and true Joey’s sportsmanship. 🌟

The sidelines were buzzing, with cheers lifting the players to a nail‑biting 2 - 1 victory for Scotland. Both teams showed outstanding skill and heart from start to finish. 👏💚💙

A huge congratulations to all Years 4–6 students who took part throughout the tournament - your enthusiasm and commitment made this event something special.

Our Year 6 Sporting Pastoral Group once again shone brightly, organising a smooth, spirited and community‑building competition. Their leadership continues to inspire our younger students, who flocked to the oval each break to watch, support and even challenge the older teams.

In a crowd‑pleasing exhibition match, Scotland faced off against the Staff team, winning 5 - 3 in a fast‑paced contest. Spectators were treated to some impressive plays and had everyone on the edge of their seats!

Shout out to our super spellers who competed in the Marian Spelling Bee at Marian Catholic School. Our thanks to Mrs de Jongh and Miss Jeni for working with our team in preparation for the comp. Well done Joeys!

After a week of celebration we concluded with a NAIDOC Liturgy led by our First Nations students. We also debuted our new staff shirts which incorporate First Nations designs created by three of our students - Trent, Isla Blue and Amir.
A big thank you to Ms Higgins and our Fire Keepers for making NAIDOC Week so memorable.

Students from three Catholic schools came together for the Vinnies Australia Homeless Sleepout on Friday night. Guests from Vinnies attended to talk with students about their work with the homeless locally before they slept “rough” for the night in the school hall. It was a valuable experience to understand the challenges that many people face.

Our leaders proudly represented our school at the 2026 Catholic Education Week Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

This week we join with Catholic schools across Queensland to celebrate Catholic Education Week under this year’s theme, ‘Share your light, inspire others’. Our diocese will celebrate with Mass on Wednesday and our school community will celebrate with a liturgy on Friday.

A reminder to families that the federal government’s AusAlert notification will be at 2:00pm on Monday 27 July (Week 3). Please remind your children that they may hear this alarm alert, which is a test only.

Our second group of Year 5 campers had a fantastic time at Paluma enjoying their activities, learning leadership skills and having fun together.
