Townsville Kyokushin Karate

Great to have Senpai Rodney back in the dojo on Thursday night, and of course we had to get the trophy in the photo after his recent podium finish! 🏆🥋

We also welcomed a new face along to give Kyokushin a try.

With the Townsville Training Weekend coming up, it was time to start pushing things a little harder. Plenty of stamina work, solid basics and some tired bodies by the end of the night.

Good to have the crew together and building towards a big weekend of training.

🥋 No slacking off after Nationals!

Senpai Rodney might still be away following the National Championships, but apparently a holiday doesn't mean a holiday from Kyokushin!

While in Wellington, New Zealand, Senpai Rodney took the opportunity to get another training session in, this time with Shihan Peter Jennings.

One of the great things about Kyokushin is that wherever the journey takes you, there's often another dojo door to walk through, new people to train with and something more to learn.

🥉 3rd Place at the National Championships!

A huge congratulations to Senpai Rodney Murphy, who stepped onto the mat at today's MKA National Championships.

Over the past few weeks, we've shared a little of the work happening behind the scenes, the extra training, bag work, conditioning and preparation that happens long before tournament day.

Today, that hard work was put to the test.

We're incredibly proud to see Senpai Rodney once again representing Townsville Kyokushin Karate at national level and bringing home a podium finish.

Some of our instructors didn't begin their Kyokushin journey until adulthood. One started at 35, another later in adult life. Today, they've represented Australia, competed at state and national level, and continue to train, learn and grow.

A little behind on sharing, but a huge shout out to Senpai Craig and Senpai Rodney, who represented Townsville Kyokushin Karate at the National Training Camp at Tallebudgera a couple of weeks ago.

There is always something to learn, no matter your grade. Training alongside karateka from across Australia is an opportunity to challenge yourself, refine your skills, and bring new knowledge back to the dojo.
