NAPLAN for students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9 have commenced.
Students with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dysgraphia are entitled to adjustments!
In fact they should be provided to encourage maximum participation and to ensure all students have a fair opportunity to complete NAPLAN.
Adjustments can include support person, scribe, extra time, rest breaks and assistive technology to name a few. Some adjustments can be approved by the school principal, while others need approval by the TAA and these should be offered and discussed with parents/carers and students before NAPLAN commences!
Check out the NAPLAN National Protocols for Test Administration 2023 for more info!
Another March and another Equal Write to Read virtual run!
I've nominated to run 100km for the month of March to raise awareness about dyslexia. BUT since I've already almost reached my target who thinks I should go for 200km!?
I just might pop into the pubs along the way and raise donations 😁

ABSOLUTELY! Initiating appropriate supports and accommodations must happen when student needs are identified and not delayed for the months it can take to complete assessment, diagnosis and reporting.
Nor does a diagnosis guarantee an IEP.
