Yesterday, our students proudly represented our school at the Japanese Speech Competition held at St Clareโs Catholic School. Students prepared and memorised a speech in Japanese, demonstrating their language skills and confidence.
Our students conducted themselves beautifully and represented our school with the utmost respect and excellent manners. We are incredibly proud of their efforts!
Congratulations to Franklin who placed first in the Year 4 category and Emily who placed third in the Year 5 category ๐๐

Our school came alive with a 'Symphony of Stories' at this morningโs Book Week Parade! Both students and staff put fantastic effort into their costumes, showing off plenty of clever and creative ideas across the school. A big thank you to Mrs Harrington and Ms Weinheimer for organizing and running the event, and to all the families who joined us! โจ

A huge congratulations to our students who took to the stage and bravely tackled increasingly challenging words in front of an audience, alongside talented spellers from the other Townsville Catholic primary schools.
We were so proud to see our students show courage and fantastic sportsmanship throughout the competition. Every student gave it their all and should be incredibly proud of their efforts! A very special congratulations to Franklin, who took out 1st place in the Year 4 competition! ๐

St Mary of the Cross MacKillop Feast Day Mass & Activities โ๏ธ
Last Friday, we celebrated the Feast Day of St Mary MacKillop. The day began with a special liturgy led by Father Joshy.
Congratulations to our Mary MacKillop Award recipients: Remy, Mia, Lucy, Stevie, Harriet, Lola, Matilda G, Matilda S, William, Ariana, Addison, Maisie, Astrid and Liliana!
These students were recognised for being deeply compassionate, reaching out to others and fostering resilience.
Later in the afternoon, students enjoyed a range of activities, including arts and crafts, games and puzzles, a scavenger hunt, prayer puppets and making Mary MacKillop biscuits, just to name a few.
It was a wonderful day celebrating the life and legacy of St Mary MacKillop and the values she continues to inspire in our school communityโจ

Last week, St Joseph's hosted a movie screening with a difference. Students and community members from around Townsville came together to watch the documentary, Future Council. The documentary follows eight children on the ultimate school excursion โ a road trip across Europe where they meet powerful leaders and explore solutions to some of our biggest environmental challenges.
Our Yr 5 & 6 Earth Warriors have been working on a project with the North Queensland Conservation Council based around this documentary. It was wonderful to see our students join with students from other schools in Townsville to view the documentary and sign a letter (formed from student responses collected at several workshops with different schools/student groups) which will be sent off to decision makers and hopefully lead to a Youth Conservation Forum.
Even though our Year 3 & 4 students couldn't be at the event, they were active contributors to the project through our Earth Warrior group, where they shared ideas on the issues that affect them, made speech bubbles for the photobooth and made sure our school was rubbish free for the event.
Thank you to Luna and Crystal from North Queensland Conservation Council (NQCC) (tag) for reaching out and getting us involved in this wonderful opportunity for our students to engage with ecological action in the wider community. A big shout out to our Earth Warriors who attended and their parents for bringing them along!
