🔬🌱 National Science Week at William Ross SHS! 🌱🔬

What an incredible National Science Week we have had at William Ross SHS! 🎉
Our students have been busy getting hands-on with science, sustainability and discovery, including:

🌳 Planting more than 60 native trees around our school grounds
🐜 Learning about the threat of Yellow Crazy Ants and conducting initial surveys for ant species
🧬 Extracting DNA from fresh fruit
🌎 Building their own biospheres
🌱 Creating native seed bombs
🧠 Competing in Science Trivia and showcasing their expert scientific knowledge
🎬 Enjoying SCINEMA films
🌻 Supporting primary school students to learn about seeds and seed adaptations

A huge congratulations to our UQ Science Ambassadors for their incredible work in planning, preparing and facilitating so many of these activities — including the additional activities running across the five weeks leading up to National Science Week! 👏🔬

A massive THANK YOU to all of our amazing science staff for their support and to every student who got involved and embraced the opportunity to learn, explore and celebrate science. ❤️

The WRSHS Year 12 Formal arrivals will take place on:

⏰ 4:45pm – 5:45pm
📍 Townsville Entertainment & Convention Centre, near The Ville Resort-Casino

Our Year 12 students have been looking forward to this special night, and we would love to see a big crowd there to welcome them!❤️

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Everyone is welcome – immediate family, extended family, friends and members of our school community.

Come along, line the arrivals area and make some noise for our graduating students as they arrive! 🎉

A huge congratulations to our William Ross students who competed at All Schools Touch today!

💪 Junior Mixed battled through a tough competition and made it all the way to the Grand Final! 🏆

🔥 Open Mixed also had an incredible tournament, making it through to the Semi Final in a massive division of 15 teams — finishing in the Top 3 of the entire Mixed competition! 👏👏

We are so proud of the effort, teamwork and determination shown by both teams today. What an achievement! 💙
