We are sad to advise of the recent passing of Tony Sharp, a well- loved and respected staff member at The Cathedral School of St Anne & St James - Townsville from 1982 to 2001. In addition to his roles as teacher, boarding master and Registrar - all of which he performed with great skill and congeniality - Tony contributed greatly to the fabric of school life through his involvement in setting up the vertical tutor group system in the Senior School, introducing the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards Scheme, enrolling international students, and strongly supporting the Outdoor Education program. He was a man of great character, good humour and generosity of spirit. RIP Tony

Mrs Watkinson's yr 7 Humanities students recently had the exciting opportunity to connect via Zoom with former Cathedral student, Will Bainbridge (Class of 2017).
After graduating, Will pursued studies in Palaeontology at university and shared his journey, experiences, and insights into the fascinating world of fossils, prehistoric life, and scientific discovery.
A huge thank you to Will for taking the time to inspire our students and show where curiosity, hard work, and a love of learning can lead.

To finish off a wonderful Cathedral School Reunion weekend, we gathered together for a beautiful church service at St James Cathedral.
A heartfelt thank you to the congregation for welcoming us and sharing such a meaningful and special service with our past students, families and friends.
Adding to the occasion, our incredibly talented string quartet beautifully played the hymns, creating a truly memorable and uplifting atmosphere.
It was a fitting way to bring everyone together and celebrate the strong connections, friendships and memories that continue to make our Cathedral community so special.

The Cathedral School Reunion – School Tour & Luncheon
One of the highlights of the reunion weekend was Saturday’s school tour and luncheon.
The Cathedral School has undergone many exciting upgrades over the years, and it was wonderful to take our past students on a journey through the campus. From the historic Heatley House, where many enjoyed finding their old class photos on display, to the impressive improvements in the girls’ boarding facilities, there was plenty to see and reminisce about.
Of course, no visit would be complete without stopping for photos beneath the magnificent rain trees, which continue to be such an iconic part of our school.
The morning concluded with a beautiful lunch in the dining hall, where past students shared stories, laughter and wonderful conversations while reconnecting with old friends.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a memorable day.

The Cathedral School Reunion 2026 – Sundowner by the Lagoon
What a wonderful evening we shared at our Sundowner by the Lagoon! Set on the beautiful banks of the lagoon, guests enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere, stunning surroundings, and fantastic live music from our incredibly talented musicians.
It was wonderful to see so many past students reconnecting, sharing stories, and catching up with old friends.
A huge thank you to our boarders for their hospitality, our talented musicians for providing the perfect entertainment, and our bar staff for helping make the night such a memorable success.
