We hope all the mothers and caregivers enjoy their special day. We hope our BSC parents enjoyed their little treats for breakfast on Friday morning.

Today we celebrated Miss Verna’s retirement. Verna has been at BG OSHC since we opened in 2021 and has been involved in the school even before that.

We wanted to thank Verna for her dedication and love she has shown us all. She has made a major impact especially through her wooly work, teaching children to finger knit, crochet and make Pom Pom’s.

Verna Galvin you will be beyond missed by children, families and staff. Thank you for everything we wish you all the best in your retirement. Safe travels 💙

Dear Families,

Please see attached program for our upcoming vacation care. Bookings will open Monday 16th March 2026 at 7am. You will be able to book in via the casual bookings feature on the OWNA app, under the ‘vacation care’ room. This will be the only way to book for vacation care. Don’t forget there is a 7-day (5 working days) notice period for vacation care cancellations. If you do not give 7 days’ notice, you will still be charged the session fee.

If you have a permanent before and after school care booking, this does not roll over to vacation care, therefore you are not automatically booked in if you come permanently during the school term! All vacation care bookings must be booked via the app/portal.

Just a reminder that the service closes at 6pm SHARP! If your child is collected after 6pm, there is a late fee of $15 that will be charged to your account.

Don’t forget that our billing cycle is one week in advance, therefore the fees for the first week of vacation care will be charged the week before Vacation Care commences (last week of term 1). Please ensure your account is fully paid prior to vacation care.

Meals- You MUST pack a lunchbox for your child to have at morning tea and lunch time. We are unable to heat up any food items, therefore please ensure you do not pack any food that is to be cooked/reheated. Cold water and a piece of fruit (apple, mandarin, pear) are always readily available. If your child has a dietary requirement to be catered for and we have not already been advised, please contact us ASAP.
Medication- If medication is to be administered by OSHC staff, a medication form will need to be filled out to ensure the OSHC staff can administer this medication to your child/ren. All medication must be in a chemist labelled container with the child/ren’s name on it.
Signing in/out- You will need to ensure you sign your child/ren in/out via the service Ipad. You are more than welcome to continue signing in/out via the app on your own personal device, however we do ask that you speak to an educator to advise them that your child is entering or exiting the service.

Please ensure your child/ren wear sun safe clothing, full brimmed hats (NO CAPS) and enclosed shoes. If Crocs, sandals, slides or thongs are worn children will not be allowed to play outdoors or attend excursions.

As advised on enrolment, the staff of the Service are free of all responsibility for lost property in connection with your child/ren's attendance. Therefore, please thoroughly consider your child/ren bringing any personal property and ensure they are labelled distinctively.

Vacation Care Day Four: Waterplay/ Christmas Lunch

What.A.Day! Townsville Inflatables supplied us with 2 water inflatables which the children thoroughly enjoyed. We also enjoyed a yummy Christmas lunch of ham, chicken, potato and pasta salad, warm bread rolls and a popper. I think we will all sleep well tonight 😴

Vacation Care Day Three: Hive Inflatables Excursion 🛝

Today we travelled by bus to Murray Sporting Complex to enjoy a session with Hive Inflatables. The children enjoyed bouncing, sliding and having fun. In the morning we did plenty of Christmas Craft.

Vacation Care Day Two: Movie Excursion 🍿🎥

Today we travelled by bus to BCC cinemas to watch Zootopia 2. We enjoyed watching the movie with a popcorn and drink. At the service we set up our Christmas tree and did plenty of craft.

See you tomorrow for our Hive Inflatable excursion. We will depart at 11 and arrived back at 2pm. All children must bring a water bottle and closed in shoes (with socks). 🛝
