Captured at the Borrow Pits, Townsville QLD

The flowering cotton tree was the first thing that caught my eye. It was alive with birds, and I came away with many photos, but this one stood out. There was something so sweet and gentle about the expression of this Noisy Friarbird ? a lovely contrast to its rather rugged, almost prehistoric appearance.

Borrow Pits, Kelso, Townsville

I was taking photos of some Pelicans from one of the Bird Hides at the Borrow Pits when this Friarbird landed in a tree right beside the hide. I was able to grab a quick snap before it disappeared.

Town Common, Melaleuca viewing area, Townsville North Queensland

It was a great morning at the Town Common, hundreds of magpie-geese, lots of Pelicans, a White-bellied Sea Eagle, but I was going there to not only hear the Reed Warbler but this time also see and capture it. And my patience was rewarded and I am very happy with the results.

A pink among greens

In the winter, pink trumpet trees are blooming. In Anandale, Townsville, the trees line the footpath. Sometimes the tree has just been planted separately from the others. The contrast of the pink and green has been captured from the moment I saw this scene, the only pink in the area.

I was so lucky that this male and the female came out of the dense bush. I heard them and my patience was rewarded. The little blue bug I only discovered in post.

I knew there was a family of four out at the Common and am always thrilled to get a photo of them so I was blown away to come across this massive flock- I didn?t know which way to point my camera - but then these two stole the show with their little dance!!!

The Palmetum, Annandale

After looking for this owl for a couple of years I eventually found it with the help of another photographer who gave me very good advice on where to look. It's really nice when people who have similar interests are willing to share locations so that you are able to capture a shot you have been trying to get for some time.
