Skilled Trees Services have been massive supporters of Fight 4 Flight.

Another step in preparations was needing another large tree removed to prevent wild birds roosting over enclosures.

If your ever in need of highly skilled, professional, and conscientious with wildlife tree aborists then these are the crew.

Once again thank you Adam and the team your greatly appreciated.

H5N1 bird flu is sadly spreading across Australia, preparations are coming along.

The new enclosure has half solid roofing but wild birds sitting on top can cause infection from their droppings going through the netting.

So we have covered with waterproof shade cloth, getting it up there was tricky, but I did it!!!

With a few choice words, tricky positions and a bit of luck it is done.

Now to finish the isolation ward and set up the shelving, microscope, medical equipment and housing so we can safely treat any patients coming through.

Preparation is the key to be able to work through this process and keep both wildlife and carer's safe.

New building is here and in place, it was a buge effort but we got there.

Big shout out to as the building has been revamped, with a few extras for Bird if Prey Rescue added in. When companies help out like this with their time and generosity its so appreciated and genuinely makes you realise that the work you do in the community matters to others as well.

Now to fit out and get this new space ready to take our Raptors in need. 🦅🪶🦅🪶🦅🪶🦅

Lots of fabulous things happening here, this old demountable has left the site.

The building served us well over the years but time for an upgrade.

The new demountable is in preparation for bird flu H5N1, which will allow us to use biosecurity measures to isolate and treat injured raptors while keeping the birds in rehab safe.

Pics of the new one soon!

The beautiful dark phase brown falcon is doing well. Her recovery will be longer than expected.

She has done well now standing an flying although her stance is not quite correct. She is "tipping forward" a little so we will need more time and some strength training as we go along.

She also cannot hold and rip food so is still being hand fed. This is not usuall for a brown falcon, they are quite smart cleaver birds. She is still feeling out of sorts.

This adult black kite was found on a property entangled with fishing line. Thank you Kassie and hubby for rescue and transport here, its much appreciated.

The wound on the wing was from the bird struggling to escape and banging the wing on the ground. After a clean up, the wound has healed nicely.

I was concerned the fishing line had cut off circulation for too long, but after a week of healing and anti inflammatory pain relief its looking like the toe has survived.

This kite will go back to the property for release as it breeding time for raptors and he may have a mate waiting.

Just a reminder, leaving fishing gear can be catastrophic for our wildlife, this bird would have died slowly had it not been found.

Please take fishing gear home and dispose of appropriately. 🪶🪶🪶

The progress of healing...this beautiful girl a Brown falcon was found by the side of the road near woodstock, thank you to all involved in rescue.

She could not stand initially and after pain meds and rest she is showing great improvements.

She is isolated as per our protocols for avain H5N1 to keep our flock and her safe. After two weeks she will then move into an enclosure to continue her rehab.

Hopefully she we be back home soon wild and free. 🪶🪶🪶

We're thrilled to have received a Community Fund Grant from Townsville Port Authority for our "Make Every Drop Count" Initiative.

This funding will help bring our vision to life through the purchase and installation of a 3,000-litre water tank, allowing us to capture and redirect stormwater for multiple purposes, including supporting our cooling system, providing drinking water, and helping to hydrate the surrounding habitat.

We're proud to be one of many community-based charities working to create a positive and lasting impact across the Townsville Region community.

A huge thank you to the Community Fund for supporting local initiatives that make a real difference. Together, we're making every drop count.

We are in full swing and preparation, removing tress that overhang our enclosures. This will reduce the amount of wild birds that could potentially pass on the H5N1 bird flu to our birds in rehab and our team members.
We will also be adding to our roofing and a full isolation unit will be established to protect our efforts in conservation and rehabilitation.
Big shout out to Skilled trees who continually support our work in the community.

Big moment for our charity and community. We’ve received an Australia Post People of Post Grant for Raptor Resilience Initiative. This funding will help us bring our idea to life by acquiring equipment to allow our volunteers to work more efficiently and safely on site, enabling us to expand the scope and scale of our conservation activities.

We’re proud to be one of many community-led organisations creating positive impact
across Australia.
