Paid work at UTas
I have paid work available for 2-3 field assistants for a devil trapping/tracking trip from mid Sept to end of October in far northwest Tasmania. And possible further work a month later for a return trip.
Project involves driving around and checking traps, collaring animals with tracking devices, and searching for dens on foot. Duties for field assistants will include cleaning traps, data scribing, accompanying others for den searches, and general assistance. Assistants won’t handle the animals and will work under the guidance of others at all times. Need to be prepared to work in a remote location with potentially adverse weather conditions.
Ideally looking for people who can commit to the whole trip but can accommodate shifts of minimum 7 days, provided the shorter term participants have their own means for transport to the northwest (which will be compensated for).
Food and accommodation provided for duration of participation, transport provided for those that attend the whole trip.
