Where did the Empowered Children's Program come from?
The Empowered Children's Program didn't start with a business idea.
It started with me listening.
When I looked closely at the community around our first centre in Toukley, I kept seeing children who needed more support with their emotions.
Not children who were "badly behaved."
Children having big feelings who simply hadn't yet learned how to understand what was happening inside them.
So, I researched. I spoke with people. I watched. And most importantly, I listened to our families.
I kept coming back to one thing:
Children need their emotions to be validated before they can learn to regulate them.
And so, we began creating a program where children could identify their emotions, understand them and learn how to express what they were feeling, with adults there to co-regulate and support them.
That became the beginning of our Empowered Children's Program.
Years later, ECP is part of every Play to Learn centre, and it continues to evolve.
But the reason it exists hasn't changed.
I believe true innovation in early learning starts with asking:
What do our children actually need?
Then having the courage to create it.
That's where ECP came from, and I'm incredibly proud of what it has become.
