🔬 Congratulations to our Mitcham Campus 2026 Oliphant Science Awards Prize Winners and Commended Entries! The Models & Inventions projects plus the winning entries from all the other categories were on display recently at Science Alice at the Wayville Showgrounds during the 2026 Awards Open Day!

Congratulations to our Scotchie Prize winners, Kira Guo (Year 6) for her poster about bats and pollination, Ella Wallace (Year 6) for her multimedia presentation about the Live Well Program, First Nations and the Kaurna Tree, and Ethan Chao (Year 4) for his Science Investigation!

Well done also to our Scotchies who submitted Highly Commend entries: Eloise Fox (Year 2) for her poster entry, Ella Wallace for her poster entry, Estelle Carr (Year 4) for her Science Investigation, Will Lavender (Year 4) for his poster entry and the team of Jacob and Ayden Pang in Year 5/6 Games.

Eloise's (Year 2) poster was also the winning 'CO2 Greenhouse Gas Reduction Award' - a new prize for 2026! The prize winners will be presented with their awards at an official ceremony in October.

✂️ Chop for Change 2026: Small Actions, Big Impact in action!

29 students and staff went under the clippers (or Ms Monro's terrifyingly GIANT scissors) today to cut their hair or shave their heads, raising over $10,000 (and counting) for Childhood Cancer Association, Lion Hearts Learning and Cancer Council Australia.

🙏 Special shout out also to Theo and the crew from Barbers of Mitcham Haircutters for their kind assistance making sure everyone left looking fantastic!

👛💼👜 This Week at Scotch, Principal Trent Driver is joined by Jada (Year 10) and Jodi Monro from the Ligertwood Library to talk about Scotch's SALA Festival Exhibition "3 Bags Full", running throughout August!

Created by Year 10 Textiles students, 3 Bags Full showcases a collection of thoughtfully designed bags using recycled materials, developed through an iterative design process. The exhibition is a shining example of the impact of having a broad range of subject choices in Senior School years, of giving classroom assignments real-world relevance for students, and giving opportunities to showcase their work.

🎼 Congratulations to our Scotch contingent of Chloe Sorensen (Year 12), Sophie Sorensen (2024), Belinda Sorensen, Lexy Walker-Wawrzycki (Year 12) and her mum Kathryn Walker-Wawrzycki, who performed during the term break in the World's Largest Ladies Pipe Band!

The world record attempt commemorated the centenary of the famed Australian Ladies Pipe Band and it’s groundbreaking 1925-27 world tour, which captured international attention and set new standards for women in music. The record setting performance was part of the Melbourne Tartan Day Festival.

🎻🎶 Recently our very own Torrens Park Campus Orchestra, Concert Band and Big Band travelled to Brighton Secondary School to take part in the South Australian Band and Orchestra Festival, where over 3000 students from nearly 40 schools perform!

The Torrens Park Campus String Orchestra received a Bronze Award for their performance, our Concert Band won GOLD and was named Overall Novice Band Section Winner (the first time a Scotch ensemble has ever won a section at ABODA), and the Big Band rounded out the week with a Bronze Award on Friday!

It was an especially busy week for some of our students, who went straight from performing in Hadestown into orchestra preparation, showing a huge commitment to music. All in all, a fun-filled day of music, wonderful performances and plenty of musical spirit. Congratulations to everyone who performed!

What a treat to have Old Collegian (2008) The Hon. Jack Batty MP (Manager of Opposition Business, Shadow Minister for Health and Wellbeing, and State Member for Bragg) back at Scotch for a special Q&A with students (with pizza, of course)!

Discussion centred around Jack’s time in politics, as a diplomat in London during COVID, and he touched upon the cost of living crisis, healthcare Issues and even how the Liberal Party views the rise of One Nation in Australia. It was an informative and engaging discussion, and The Political Society thanks Jack – it was wonderful to welcome him back to Scotch!

🏹 Congratulations to Cameron House, who put in a herculean effort to capture their second consecutive House Ergathon Championship!

Each House was represented by a team of 8 rowers (one boy and one girl from each of the Senior, Inter, Junior and Beginner squads) and completed a 2000m relay, with every rower racing 250m. Cameron took on the best of Scotch Rowing with a time of 7:05.2, edging out McGregor by just 1.1 seconds. A fantastic display of teamwork, determination and House pride!

🏆🏀 Div 2 Open Basketball Champs ☝️
