What a night we had celebrating business in our region last night at the 2026 Torquay Business Award. We were SO excited when we were announced as a finalist for Business Leader of the year and absolutely blown away to be awarded with this honour on the night!
Being honoured with this award is not so much about me as a leader, it is more about the people who trust my guidance and vision. We have the most beautiful team of teachers at SDC, wonderful families who trust us with their kids, and adult students who push themselves every week (and have lots of fun in the process).
Thank you to everyone who nominated us and believes in us! And thank you Coastal Nectar for sponsoring this award!

Yesterday was World Duchenne Awareness Day. Our Term 3 Fundraiser is aimed at raising both funds and awareness for DMD. This is a condition that impacts a young man in our community, and I would love to rally and support this cause through SDC. If you are able to donate, it would be hugely appreciated. Kids can bring donations into class over the next week, or you can donate via this link: https://doitforduchenne.com.au/melinda-luke-hickey

Thank you all for your support – we have helped so many families and charities over the years at SDC, and I feel honoured to be able to continue this tradition.
