Last week, our Junior School boys enjoyed a visit from acclaimed Australian author and illustrator Gus Gordon, best known for titles including Wendy, Herman and Rosie, Somewhere Else and Finding François,

Across a series of library sessions, Gus shared insights into the creative process behind his much-loved books, encouraged students to embrace their imaginations and inspired a new generation of readers, writers and artists.

Thank you, Gus, for spending time with our boys and bringing the magic of storytelling to life.

Happy Father's Day to the fathers, grandfathers and father figures who help shape our boys' lives.

Earlier this week, our Junior School boys spent time carefully choosing Father's Day gifts, with plenty of help from the wonderful volunteers of the Junior School Supporters Group.

The presents are a cherished tradition, but today is really about recognising the men whose guidance, encouragement and quiet support help our boys grow into good young men.

Thank you for all you do.

What a tie-rific morning we had at our Father's Day Breakfast! 👔💙

Our dads and special father figures enjoyed a delicious breakfast alongside their sons, before receiving a very special gift, a tie decorated with love (and plenty of creativity!).

From colourful masterpieces to bold designs, no two ties were the same, and we think it's safe to say they'll be treasured for years to come.

Thank you to all the dads who joined us this morning. We loved celebrating you and the important role you play in our boys' lives!

Every Wednesday afternoon, a group of Year 10 and 11 students heads to Toowoomba West Special School as part of a rotating service program that is making a genuine difference.

Working alongside classroom teachers, the boys support students across a range of year levels, assisting with learning activities, building friendships and helping create positive and engaging classroom experiences.

The stories they bring back each week often speak of laughter and meaningful connections. Just as importantly, they reflect on the lessons they've learned through serving others.

This rewarding partnership benefits everyone involved, fostering empathy, inclusion and mutual respect while bringing joy to both our students and the students of Toowoomba West Special School.

The Groom House Mother and Son Dinner is one of those occasions that reminds us how important the journey is, not just the destination.

Last week, our senior boys and their mothers gathered to celebrate a relationship that has shaped their years at TGS. Throughout the evening, boys reflected on the sacrifices and quiet support that have helped them navigate their schooling journey.

There were plenty of smiles, laughs and some heartfelt moments as families took the opportunity to pause and acknowledge just how much these connections matter.

Thank you to all the mothers who joined us for such a special evening.

A NAPLAN milestone reached ahead of schedule.

Our boys achieved the strongest Writing results in TGS history this year, with students performing above the Queensland state average across every year level and every NAPLAN domain.

It's encouraging evidence that a deliberate focus on literacy, numeracy and evidence-informed teaching is helping boys grow in confidence as writers and learners.

Age-old skills in a brand-new building.

The Design, Engineering and Technology Centre may be home to some of our newest facilities, but it is also a place where traditional skills continue to thrive.

Fourteen of our boarders have taken part in our inaugural leatherwork course, learning to cut, shape and work leather as they piece together a bridle by hand.

In a world of constant change, the experience has been a reminder that precision and craftsmanship remain as valuable as ever.

The 77th edition of this special rivalry brought together students, parents, families, friends and Old Boys from Toowoomba Grammar School, alongside the Downlands community, on a glorious day for rugby.

While the First XV's victory ensured the O'Callaghan Cup remains at TGS, the day was about far more than a single result. Across the grades there were hard-fought contests, some difficult losses and some heroic wins.

There were also boys who found themselves called upon through injury and disappointment, embracing their opportunity and representing their School with courage and character.

As one of the great lines of this fixture reminds us:

"We are not enemies… we are rivals, the closest of friends and the fiercest of rivals."
