As we move into Week 9 of Term 3, there are plenty of exciting opportunities for our Ursie girls to embrace new experiences, pursue their goals and make the most of every opportunity on offer at the College.

This week, our Indigenous Leadership Youth Program scholarship recipients will travel to Sydney to take part in another valuable leadership experience, continuing to develop their skills through a unique program available exclusively to St Ursula's College students. We wish these girls every success as they represent our College and grow as future leaders.

Meanwhile, our Year 11 and 12 students will be focused on exams, demonstrating the commitment, resilience and dedication that underpin academic success. We encourage all students undertaking assessments to stay organised, seek support when needed and give their very best effort.

We are also looking forward to welcoming prospective students to our Ursie Girl for a Day experience. This special day gives Year 5 and 6 students the chance to experience life at Ursies, make new friends and discover the many opportunities that await them as part of our vibrant College community.

Happy Father's Day

Today, we celebrate the dads, grandfathers, carers and father figures who guide, support and encourage our Ursie girls each day.

Thank you for the countless early mornings, words of wisdom from the sidelines, lifts to school, training and performances, and the unwavering love that helps our students grow into confident young women.

We also take a moment to remember the fathers and father figures who are no longer with us. While they may not be here in person, their love, lessons and legacy continue to live on in the hearts of those they cherish.

Whether today is filled with celebration, reflection, gratitude, or remembrance, we wish all members of our Ursie community a peaceful and meaningful Father's Day.

Join us for an informative and engaging parent evening with Dr Mary Kaspar, Clinical Psychologist and Founder of The Friendship Project, as she shares practical strategies to help parents support their daughters in navigating friendships and social relationships.

Date: Tuesday 8 September
Time: 5:30pm – 7:00pm
Venue: St Ursula’s College Chapel

During the session, parents will gain insights into:

* Understanding the social world of adolescent girls.
* Recognising common friendship challenges and relationship dynamics.
* Supporting daughters through conflict, exclusion and changing friendships.
* Building confidence, resilience and healthy relationship skills.
* Creating open and supportive conversations at home.

Dr Kaspar will also be working with our students during her visit, providing Year 7 and Year 8 students with practical strategies for developing healthy friendships, communication and a sense of belonging.

Girls Supporting Girls

At Ursies, leadership is about using your gifts to lift others up.

Over the past two years, our Ursie coaches have shared their time, knowledge and passion for netball with students from Our Lady of Lourdes, helping them develop their skills and confidence both on and off the court. The impact of that guidance has been evident in the determination, resilience and positive attitude shown by the younger girls throughout the season.

And if only you could have seen their faces as they ran through a tunnel of Ursie students before their game at the Newtown Cup. The excitement, pride and joy were unforgettable!

When younger girls are surrounded by strong female role models, they are empowered to flourish. We are incredibly proud of our Ursie girls for leading by example and showing the next generation what it means to work hard, support each other and always give your best.

We loved welcoming our dads and significant father figures to breakfast today - the room felt full of connection, laughter, and that easy comfort that only comes when the right people are in the room.

A huge thank you to Gavin for saying our prayer and to Ben for speaking so openly and generously. And an especially heartfelt thanks to Tim from the It’s a Blokes Thing committee, who shared his personal journey with prostate cancer. His message was simple, powerful, and something we want our girls to take home:

Building Tomorrow's Leaders

Last week, our Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation (QATSIF) graduates and student leaders were celebrated at a special graduation ceremony held at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ), Toowoomba.

Congratulations to all graduates recognised on the day. It was a wonderful occasion to acknowledge their hard work, commitment and leadership, surrounded by the families, friends and school communities who have supported them throughout their journey.

A heartfelt thank you to UniSQ and their outstanding First Nations team for hosting the event and helping create such a memorable celebration of achievement and opportunity.

⚽U19 Uhlsport Cup Campaign Comes to an End

After an impressive group stage campaign that saw our U19 Soccer team progress through undefeated, the girls hosted Kings Christian College in their home quarter final.

The match was evenly contested early, with both teams locked at 0-0 at halftime. Despite a determined effort from our Ursie girls, Kings Christian College capitalised on their opportunities in the second half to claim a 4-0 victory.

While the result didn't fall our way, the team should be incredibly proud of their achievements throughout the tournament, which included wins over Mary MacKillop, St Augustine's and Springfield SHS, along with a draw against Westside Christian College.

A special congratulations to all players and coaches for their commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the competition. We also extend our thanks to Mrs Hick for her support during the campaign.

Well done, girls, on representing St Ursula's College with pride and determination.
