PUBLIC SPEAKING AWARD | Among the many highlights of Term Two was our annual ACV Bligh Prize for public speaking.

Our Year 6 students have been participating in public speaking as part of their curriculum in a bid to vie for this historic and prestigious prize.

Congratulations to Sathyanga who was adjudged this year's prize winner by our judging panel of Mrs Edwards, Ms Charles and Year 12 Prefect Clara.

Our primary Leaders Oscar and Mary finished in second and third respectively.

Congratulations to all of our students on their wonderful efforts during their public speaking unit.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT | Last Saturday, Year 12 student Will played a Violin Concerto (Scene de Ballet by Bériot) with the Young Conservatorium Orchestra at a concert at the Queensland Conservatorium at Southbank in Brisbane.

He received this opportunity as a result of winning the Young Conservatorium Concerto Competition earlier this year.

Will displayed maturity beyond his years during the performance - one of his strings snapped mid-performance and he had the presence of mind to quickly swap his violin with the Concert Master's Violin and continue playing without missing a beat.

He received tumultuous applause from the packed audience at the end of his performance.

It was fabulous to see Will's family members, friends, and fellow school students there to support him. It was certainly a highly memorable and very exciting performance!

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT | Congratulations to Year 10 student Jayden who has been selected into the Australian Athletics Pathway Transition Program.

This program will offer Jayden access to a full range of professional sporting resources such as sport psychology, nutrition and biomechanics over the next year, culminating in a camp where Jayden will connect with other athletes from the program.

Jayden's selection is a reflection of his hard work, dedication and potential.

Congratulations Jayden, the whole TAS community is proud of you.

PERFORMING ARTS TOUR | Recently, TAS' Aidan's Voices enjoyed a fantastic choral workshop alongside Sunshine Coast Grammar School and Toowoomba Choral Society's Contemporary Choral. The students sang 'Crowded Table, songs from the hit musical 'Hamilton' and learnt a dance to 'Papa Loves Mambo'.

A big thank you to the Toowoomba Choral Society and all of the staff that made this opportunity possible for our students.

CROSS COUNTRY SUCCESS | Today, Toowoomba Anglican School proudly sent 12 of our best and brightest runners to compete at the Queensland Athletics All Schools Cross Country Relay Championships at Nudgee College.

Our U17 Boys team of Jayden, Cameron and Zeke produced a determined performance in the challenging 3 x 3km relay to claim a well-deserved Bronze Medal.

The U14 Boys team of Charlie, Henry and Alex also competed strongly over the same distance, finishing an impressive 6th in Queensland.

In the 3 x 2km relay events, our younger runners showcased remarkable courage, teamwork and race intelligence. The U10 Boys team of Nicholas, Charlie and Alexander ran brilliantly to secure the Silver Medal, while our U11 Boys team finished a heartbreaking but highly commendable 4th, narrowly missing the podium.

These results are a testament to the dedication, perseverance and sportsmanship of all our athletes. It was a fantastic way to conclude the term and a wonderful representation of the TAS spirit.

Several of these athletes, along with Lara, will next represent the Darling Downs team at the Queensland School Sport 10–19 Years Cross Country Championships, to be held at Highfields early next term.

Congratulations to all our runners on their outstanding efforts. We are incredibly proud of you all!

HOUSE ATHLETICS | This year's House Athletics competitions came to a close in grand fashion today with the second half of our Secondary program.

It proved to be the perfect way to cap off an action-packed week, which featured a number of school records broken at both the Primary and Secondary carnivals.

A big congratulations to Connal for taking out this year's Secondary Athletics Carnival ahead of Gill and Fairfax.

Today's highlights also included our TAS-wide tunnel ball competition, which brought students, staff and families together for a hotly-contested game of tunnel ball, which was eventually won by Gill.

It's weeks like these that show nobody does community like TAS.

HOUSE ATHLETICS | The fun of our House Athletics competitions continued today with our Primary students taking to the track and field for a day of fun-filled action.

Our students gave their all across a variety of events and showed tremendous house spirit throughout the day.

Congratulations to Fairfax for taking out this year's competition ahead of Connal in second and Gill in third.

Our House Athletics competition concludes tomorrow with the remainder of the Secondary program and our TAS-community tunnel ball competition, which everyone is encouraged to get involved in.

HOUSE ATHLETICS | House spirit was on full display at the first half of our annual Secondary House Athletics Carnival on Wednesday.

From shot put to long jump and track events, there was plenty of action and some impressive performances.

The day laid the perfect platform for the remainder of our Secondary House Athletics program and Primary Athletics Carnival in the coming days.
