Testimony from Zimbabwe (name removed for security reasons).

"I am an inmate. Before I came to prison, I did not know the Lord personally. My life was empty and I was full of anger, regret, and hopelessness. I thought my life was finished. But God in His mercy met me right here behind these walls. When I joined the Emmaus courses through the ministry, everything began to change. At first, I was just looking for something to pass the time. But as I started studying the Word of God through the Emmaus lessons, the Lord began to speak to my heart. The courses taught me who God is, who I am in Christ, and how to walk as a child of God. For the first time I understood salvation, forgiveness, and the new life we have in Jesus.

The Emmaus courses have greatly changed my spiritual life. I now have a hunger for God’s Word. I wake up early to pray and to do my lessons. The Bible studies have given me truth to hold onto when days are hard. Where there was bitterness, the Lord has given me peace. Where there was darkness, He has given me hope. I am growing, and I can see the Lord shaping my character day by day. But God did not stop with me. He is using me to reach others here in prison. I now share what I am learning with other inmates. We sit together, we discuss the lessons, and we pray together. Some have given their lives to Christ. Others are encouraged not to give up.

The Word I learn from Emmaus is becoming a light to men around me. I am so grateful to the Lord, and to the ministry, for these courses. In a place where it is difficult to have a Bible of your own, the Emmaus lessons have been bread for my soul. I pray that God will continue to use this ministry to bring many more men to Christ.
