Loving the Arts at Lourdes is spoilt this year to have Vivienne Heckels, a renowned artist from Toowoomba, as our featured artist for 2026. A lifelong artist, Vivienne creates expressive paintings through an intuitive process of drawing, colour and imagination. Inspired by personal reflection, social history and faith, her work captures emotion and storytelling with depth, spontaneity and authenticity.
Faith is at the heart of Vivienne's artistic practice. Each day, she begins by asking, "God, what will we create together today?" This spirit of collaboration and trust shapes her creative journey and brings a distinctive richness to her work.
Vivienne has exhibited extensively in solo and group exhibitions throughout Queensland and the ACT. She has received numerous art awards, and her paintings have been featured in books, magazines and media publications. Her artworks are held in Shire Council offices and corporate collections across Queensland, as well as private collections throughout Australia, New York and London.
Vivienne has also kindly donated one of her beautiful artworks for our silent auction. This is a wonderful opportunity to own an original piece by an acclaimed artist, so be sure to put your best offer forward.
Visitors will also have the unique opportunity to see Vivienne at work during Loving the Arts, as she demonstrates some of her artistic techniques and creative processes. Children are warmly invited to ask questions, interact with the artist, and join in hands-on activities, experimenting with paper and pencil while discovering the joy of artistic expression.
We are honoured to welcome Vivienne to the Lourdes community and look forward to sharing her inspiring talent with students, families and visitors alike.
