Congratulations to our 19 Downlands students who proudly represented the Darling Downs Region at last week's 17β18 Years State Championships.
With 19 players selected, Downlands had the largest representation of any school at the Championships β a fantastic achievement that reflects the strength of our rugby program and the commitment of our students both on and off the field.
We are especially proud of Charlie, Samo and Savelio, who have been selected in the Queensland team and will now go on to compete at the National Championships. This is a tremendous honour and recognition of their hard work and outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
Special congratulations also to Theo, who was named the recipient of the Darling Downs Life Member Award.
Well done to all 19 players on representing Downlands and the Darling Downs with pride, determination and sportsmanship.

Earlier this week, hundreds of Downlands students' family members visited the Graham Centre for our 13th Movers and Shakers event. Our annual Movers and Shakers event is where our Year 8 students become a person from the Catholic Church's history who has influenced change, whilst answering a series of questions in character. For the past six weeks, our students have been researching, compiling timelines and completing writing tasks related to the topic to assist them in their preparation for yesterday evening's event. Congratulations to all our students involved for a successful evening.

Three of our keen runners met the 2026 Young Australian of the Year, Nedd Brockmann, at the Queens Park event yesterday evening.
Nedd is known for raising over $10.6 million to fight homelessness across Australia, taking on tough challenges like ultra-marathon running. His message stayed with us all: homelessness should not equal hopelessness.
πΈ: Lewis (Year 10), Nedd Brockmann, Angus (Year 11) and Henry (Year 7).
