It was wonderful to attend the Queensland Police Service Annual Multi-faith Multicultural Dinner, celebrating the strong relationships between the QPS and Queensland’s diverse faith and cultural communities.

The evening was filled with meaningful conversations, community connections and a lively cultural dance performed by members of the QPS. We also appreciated the reflections from Kam Athwal of the Toowoomba Interfaith Working Group, highlighting the importance of the term “Police Service” instead of "Police Force" and its commitment to serving the community.

We are grateful to the QPS for their ongoing work in building trust, understanding and stronger connections across our multicultural and multi-faith communities. 🤝

We are sincerely grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to our International Interfaith Conference on 29 August.

It was a valuable day of meaningful discussion, connection and shared perspectives, bringing together members of our diverse community. We all walked away with something new to learn, reflect on and take forward.

It was wonderful to come together for an afternoon of connection, conversation, and Fijian music to farewell Charlie Shandil, and wish him well in his new appointment.

We thank Charlie for his leadership, trust, and support of our community work. Among those attending were Evelyn Ray, Deputy Chair of the Toowoomba Interfaith Working Group, and Haniff Razak from Pure Land Learning College Association Inc.

🕊️ Inaugural Peace Summit 2026

The Peace Committee has finalised preparations for the Inaugural Peace Summit, to be held in Toowoomba on 10 October 2026.

We are grateful for the strong support from our community, Mayor, and Toowoomba Regional Council.

We are excited to welcome a renowned peace advocate from India as a keynote speaker, who will also lead a one-day workshop on “The Leadership Formula in a Culturally and Religiously Diverse Community – Toowoomba.”

The Toowoomba Interfaith Working Group met on Wednesday, 11 August to finalise the details for the International Peace Conference 2026

Everything is now ready to go, and we are looking forward to welcoming you on 29 August. We still have around 30 places available, so there is still time to join us!

At a recent Interfaith Conference in Malacca, Toowoomba was proudly represented by our delegation. We were also honoured that Venerable Cheng De was invited to deliver one of the keynote addresses, sharing valuable insights on the importance of interfaith harmony and mutual understanding.

Pictured here is Venerable Cheng De with faith leaders from across the region, as well as taking time to meet with the Toowoomba delegation. The day before the conference, he also graciously hosted us for lunch, where he encouraged us to continue the important work and vision of Master Chin Kung.

Venerable Cheng De reminded us that Toowoomba holds a special place in Master Chin Kung's heart. With that comes a shared responsibility to carry forward his legacy of peace, harmony, education, and intercultural understanding for future generations.

We are deeply grateful for Venerable Cheng De's wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering commitment to building bridges between communities. His leadership continues to inspire us all.

The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) North Cluster, under the leadership of Superintendent Mr Yaccob, has expressed interest in organising a study visit to Toowoomba.

Having learned about Toowoomba's strong commitment to religious and cultural diversity, Mr Yaccob is keen for his young officers to experience firsthand how our community has built trust, mutual respect, and social cohesion across different faiths and cultures.

Seen here are Mr Yaccob and members of his team exchanging ideas and experiences with Haniff Razak. We look forward to strengthening this friendship and welcoming the delegation to Toowoomba in the near future.

On 17 June, we were privileged to welcome Mr Charlie Shandil, Regional Director North (Queensland and Northern Territory), during his visit to Pure Land.

The meeting provided a wonderful opportunity to share our work, activities, and community programs. It was a meaningful and enriching exchange of ideas, reflections, and experiences.

We were deeply encouraged and inspired by Mr Shandil’s kind words, compliments, and recognition of the contributions made by Pure Land and the wider Toowoomba community.

Thank you, Mr Charlie Shandil, for including us in your visit agenda. We truly appreciate your time, support, and interest in our work.
