Yesterday afternoon Toowoomba City Airport demonstrated its value as a diversion airfield for 18 FTA aircraft. Due to a temporary closure of Wellcamp Airport resulting from a disabled aircraft on the runway. All operations were conducted very professionally and smoothly by the FTA instructors and students.

Isn’t this the coolest playground equipment ever!!

A huge shout out to Toowoomba Regional Council Parks and Gardens team for incorporating a North American T-6/Harvard into their new park located at the end of the runway (Capt. Cook Ovals). It’s thoughtful, unique, and such a meaningful tribute to the rich aviation history of the area.

How many of us would have absolutely loved having something like this in our playgrounds growing up? What a brilliant way to inspire the next generation of aviation enthusiasts!

Lest We Forget

It is pleasing to see TRC now taking tangible steps toward delivering positive outcomes for our Aerodrome and progressing the recommendations we have consistently and constructively advocated for over many years. These initiatives have not emerged overnight — they reflect sustained effort, practical experience, and a long-standing commitment to ensuring the Aerodrome’s viability and future growth.

A special thank you to Councillors Edwina Farquhar and Carol Taylor, and to CEO Sal Petroccitto, for their leadership and willingness to move these matters forward. Constructive engagement and decisive action are essential, and their efforts in progressing these outcomes are acknowledged and appreciated.
