This Term in Grade 4, our students have been deeply engaged in exploring faith and community! This week the class will be celebrating entering the Kingdom of God through our “Kingdom of God Party,” focusing on living as citizens of God’s Kingdom.

Another highlight has been their speech writing. Students demonstrated a strong understanding of storytelling through their speech writing project. They planned and wrote speeches retelling a key scene from ‘My Place’ by Nadia Wheatley, taking on the voice of one of the characters and adding a thoughtful biblical perspective. This experience helped them develop their expression and learn how to captivate an audience.

Last week our Year 10 students travelled to Mungindi on the Queensland–New South Wales border as part of their STORM Co (Service To Others Really Matters) trip.

During their visit, students immersed themselves in community life, taking part in a tour of a local cotton ginning factory and assisting with a range of service projects.

One unexpected highlight of the week was the arrival of a 9 News crew, who were filming a story on Mungindi's famous State of Origin Border Battle. Several of our STORM Co students found themselves in front of the camera during the filming, while Pr Leathan and Mr Cosier somehow ended up right in the middle of the action, much to the amusement of the group!

Today in Year 3 Art, students created beautiful winter-themed artworks! ❄️ First, they designed a winter night scene, exploring colour and contrast to capture the magic of a chilly evening. They also created invisible snowflakes combining crayon and watercolour techniques to achieve stunning effects.

A huge thank you to all parents, families, and community members who joined us for our 3rd Annual Solomon Islands Trivia & Auction Night.

The evening was a wonderful success, raising support for our Year 12 students as they prepare for their mission trip this November to Betikama Adventist College in the Solomon Islands.

We are especially grateful to our generous sponsors who donated items, vouchers, and services, helping make the night such a memorable event. From fun auction items to handmade student work and even fresh lemonade prepared on the night, there was plenty of excitement, laughter, and friendly competition throughout.

A final total of funds raised will be shared soon!

Most importantly, we are incredibly proud of our Year 12 students, who represented the school with enthusiasm, maturity, and heart.

We give thanks for the opportunity ahead and pray for safe travels and meaningful connections as they prepare to serve and learn through this mission experience.

🎉 Huge smiles all around yesterday! Our Kindy students were thrilled to harvest their very own carrots – they've been growing steadily since the start of Term 1! 🌱 We’re so proud to see them nurturing these little veggies and spending time in nature. What a wonderful reward for all their hard work! 🥕

While the last few weeks have seen significant rainfall, construction work on the Performing Arts Centre has remained largely on track.
Today you could see the roofing elements being installed.
Down in the lower ground floor, the roughing in process is happening—this critical stage involves the initial installation of all essential building systems, including plumbing, electrical wiring, and HVAC ducts, before walls, ceilings, and floors go in.

Jenaya Lewis - Secondary Teacher

What is your favourite Bible verse and why?

Right now, a Bible verse I am focusing on is Proverbs 16:9 - "We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps." As I step into a new chapter here in Toowoomba, I am trying to rely more on God and less on my own plans.

What are you looking forward to in your role this year?

I am looking forward to getting to know my students and being able to help them feel more confident in their learning, and also to learn new things myself.

Tell us a little bit about why you chose DDAC:

I found myself at the end of a chapter living and travelling in England, and I was trying to decide when and where I was going to go. As I was praying about when and where to go, someone from the conference approached my Dad and asked if I was coming back soon because there was a role going in Toowoomba, which is where I wanted to go anyway, so I applied. God has been leading, I suppose you could say.

What do you love to do in your free time?

I love to paint - I am a watercolour artist. I also love to travel, so I make sure I always take my travel paint set and a sketch book.
