Remembering Doc on this day...
Belfast born Bernard "Doc" Neeson emigrated to Adelaide, Australia with his family as a child. After a stint in teachers college and then military service, Doc completed degrees in film and drama. While at University he joined a band with the Brewster brothers and the rest is history. As The Angels singer, Doc was one of the most distinctive front men in Australian rock music history. The band soared to national fame in the late 70s, releasing a string of classic albums propelled by intense radio and television exposure. Along with Cold Chisel and Midnight Oil, The Angels made up the holy trinity of Aussie pub rock which saw them play relentlessly to huge and devoted audiences all around the country. To this day, they remain one of Australia's best loved bands. Sadly, a brain tumour took Doc on this date in 2014. RIP
